Please Don't Let Your Loved Ones Fall For This Stimulus Package ConJob.

This is cross-posted, for which I apologize, but I feel so passionately about this. We are being tricked, completely and utterly. I can't even find the words to express how misguided this rebate concept is. We are being used by the government to pump liquidity into the economy via being encouraged to spend money we don't have, provided by a check from the government, to pass it through to corporations.

We are being used!

The best way to use this money is to PAY OFF EXISTING DEBT, if you have any. The worst way to use this money is to incur new debt.

Nobody is fooled by it except for American investors who are not savvy.

This is a vanity move on Bush's part. It is to reassure Asian markets, and to bamboozle American investors. It's time to go to cash and invest only in tangible assets.

4. First he tells us to shop, then he gives us the money to do it
We are no longer citizens in this country, we are just consumers. Sickening.

I agree with you -- if I get any sort of a rebate, it's going to pay back my mother, who's helped me get out of debt...

7. the only way I can tell if the economy is booming or in recession
is I get a 'rebate' check when the economy is bust.

So I guess it is too late. I love the rebate - it will be as close to a real deal (a real new deal) as we will ever see.

Spendin' ours on a road trip to "Canadia". Think it should be one-way? We started planned this trip last year -our 25th anniversary this year. Trip is on unless we are unemployed by then. I've given up shopping, going out to dinner, and most traveling -damned if Ill give up our anniversary!

9. The State's getting mine.

And the Federal government will get my wife's.

So, in a way, it's going to pay down debt.

12. How much is the payoff to corporate America, I have not seen that mentioned?
The rebate is cover for the big payoff so what is that going to be, actual cuts to corporate tax rates?
