Is there another right wing talking point amongst us?
Heard twice on the radio yesterday on two different stations both offered by bush loving callers. To paraphrase - "we cannot have awesome national security provided by bush and a great economy at the same time." Which septic tank has this line been manufactured in? I find it a little dubious as a talking point because that's a helluva lot of syllables for our "conservative" neighbors. But they do tend to absorb their losses with either happy talk or by totally ignoring the problem.

1. I'm actually surprised that it wasn't the other way around.
I thought it was and always will be, about the almight dollar with repukes!?!?!? But then again, they have to protect their investments, right? :sarcasm:

2. Wow...
They've gone from telling folks we need to give up our civil rights for National security to we need to give up on the idea of a decent economy for National security.

If I hear one person repeat this little gem to my face I will slap them silly.

7. limbaugh had that one covered
According to the drug addicted, thrice divorced spokesman for the values party, Presidents have no effect on the economy. Statement was made in the 90's, get it. If they put as much energy to doing positive stuff for our country we'd living in Nirvana.

I do like the ultimate republican bait for their lemmings:

- Government does not work, put us in charge and we will prove it.

8. I heard some repub asshat ranting the other day..
about the "liberal democrat" congress bringing about all of these economic woes.

That's right, it's the Democrats' fault that oil prices have skyrocketed. It's also their fault that all of these mortgage companies were handing out subprime mortgages like candy. I guess it's also their fault that bush has borrowed us up to our ying-yangs.

Whatever, I welcome their delusional rantings. They push themselves further and further into oblivion with each passing day.

12. I just don't understand
It seems on a daily basis, someone from the party of responsibility is not taking responsibility for something. They are truly amazing.

10. Presidents have no effect on the economy
which is why of course 99 % of the morans' books are about Ronald Reagan how great he was for the economy.

4. That's a helluva thing to hear.
Basically an acknowledgement that Bin Laden has succeeded in draining our economy. Not good for Bush. His strategy can be compared to a man who tears his own house to pieces looking for a mean mouse.

14. This will be a unique generation of children..
in that they probably will not achieve greater financial success, and in fact will probably have less financial success overall than their parents' generation did. If that has ever occurred before in our history, it's been a long, long time.

15. Really unique indeed...
Not many generations are called on to continue a war started by the past generation.

13. idjets! our best security IS a good economy
If the economy is doing well, and people have good-paying jobs, they are less likely to get really honked off at the gvmt. However, if the economy is in the septic tank, and what money is left goes into the military/industrial/prison complex, the citizens are eventually going to get...restive.
