1. I didn't know, good for Shirley,
I hope she is able to get enough support to mount a good challenge its going to be a tough battle with no name recognition and national help.

16. The progressive community in the district drafted her.
And she was good enough to step up. I don't know very much about her yet but probably will learn more in the next week or so.

We've been having a rough time here because Nancy won't even talk to us.

In any case, to keep it positive, when I find out more, I'll put it up here. It's good to have primary challengers. They open up the conversation.

:hi:

18. I assume you know Cindy Sheehan is running against Pelosi as an independant....
If not....

http://www.motherjones.com/news/update/2008/01/pushing-pelosi.html

"One morning last August in San Francisco, six women in pink sweaters marched up a hilly boulevard towing pink roller bags full of shoes. They unzipped the bags in front of Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's house, dumped the shoes on her lawn, and went on to arrange loafers, pumps, and pink glittery sandals like hawkers at a yard sale. Anchoring their display was a pair of combat boots, placed on Pelosi's doorstep. The boots, like the other shoes, had been pulled from a dead body in Iraq—the body of Casey Sheehan, in fact, whose mother, Cindy, is running as an Independent against Pelosi for Congress."

Don't worry, San Franciscans will have a multitude of choices.

22. Looks like they'll have a good chance to express their feelings.....
Wish I had those kinds of choices. Here in Mississippi its a bit bleaker. Our last Democratic nominee for governor was so bad (anti-abortion, anti-gay, pro-prayer in school) that I refused to vote.
For me, a life long loyal Democrat that was extreme.

24. I don't know which is worse. Having a rep like yours
(which sounds really hard) or having ours as Speaker who seems to have turned on her own base.

25. At least you have several choices that don't totally HORRIFY you
And when there is someone decent running for an office here that I can proudly vote for, he or she ALWAYS loses. Sometimes I wonder why I bother, but I remember a time when I respected the Democratic party (way-ass back in the 1960's and 1970's). I guess its basically loyalty to a party that no longer exists.
