Why we need to suck it up and seriously discuss impeachment
After the Democrats regained control of Congress in November, we heard and understood that Impeachment was off the table.

All of us here are very aware that the Bush Administration is one of the worst in The History of the United States, the number of impeachable offenses it has commited, many in the open, is breathtaking. Unfortunately, the Main Stream Media's complicity and unwillingness to challenge the Bush Administration for 6 years coupled The Democrats' embarrassing lack of power, made the idea of impeachment a liberal wet dream.

The question of whether Bush has committed impeachable offenses shouldn't be in doubt. Unfortunately, the main opponents are likely to be the mainstream media. Covering up for the Bush Administration is covering up for their own culpibility.

Ridicule is a potent weapon, and has been brought to bear against the very notion of impeachment, marginalizing it to the point that even liberal blogs don't like to see it discussed on their pages.

Unfortunately, Sy Hersh's recent article gives me no choice. The very idea of starting a war with Iran is ludicrous on so many levels, but as Sy Hersh said, 'he's the President.'

The only way to stop him appears to be taking the Executive Branch away from the people incapable of running the country.

Not only do these people need to be stopped, they need to be destroyed, so that anyone who worked in this administration is forever tarred and is considered unacceptable for higher office forevermore.

The only way to do this is to take a page from the Republican playbook. We need to turn the liberal blogosphere into a giant megaphone. We need to coordinate with our electeds. We need to have a plan of attack that is utterly ruthless and we need to discover how to speak with one voice. This will give us penetration. The MSM will discuss. With the strength of the people behind them, our Congress could succeed.

Impeachment of this President has and would get more of the people's support as time goes on. NO ONE wants to start a war with Iran.

A President determined on such a course needs to be stopped.

The first thing we do is put impeachment back on the table.

Sincerely,

Dems

Great post and so true. Your point about the mainstream media covering for these guys is sad but true. I wonder, if investigations ever truly start, just how bad the media of the day will look? I mean really and truly. If it were to even get reported on. But impeachment may be the only answer to stop the madness we are living under, damn the msm full speed ahead.
on edit- Good point about making sure they never ever have any chance at "public service" again. In actuality, they are not serving the public at large, just the defense contractors, oil companies, drug companies, and a select few ultra rich. They don't give a damn about us. But we all know that.

8. Starting an impeachment investigation would
stop him from causing more trouble. There is no way they could get the votes to get it done. But they sure as hell should take a swipe at it.

12. But the Hillary issue needs to be dealt with...
Sorry, just kidding.

I agree heartily.

Unfortunately, the blogosphere has been (and currently) sufficiently demonized as a "rude, crude, Wild West" where anything goes.

Bloggers such as Kos, Atrios, Firedoglake and Greenwald have made enormous strides, but they keep getting "lumped in" with the LGFs, Malkins and Red Staters.

Attempts must be made through "alternate media" such as HuffPost, Air America, Buzzflash and ThinkProgress.

I think they already have the public trust. The challenge is to make them more mainstream.
