12. I've only caught snippets of him here and there, and I can barely breathe when I do. My
son-in-law likes him because he "tells it like it is." The immigration issue is big with my s-i-l, and Bill apparently agrees that English should be the only language allowed in the US, the wall should go up across the border--crap like that. My s-i-l is in the Nat'l Guard and was in Iraq early on and he fortunately hates bush, so we can be together in the same room!

the story. :wtf: My husband and I often wonder where they go to get the "other side" of what ever shit Billo is shucking. We gave them KO's book for Christmas.

28. Ask your s-i-l just who's going to actually build that wall?
Then maybe show him this (from last December):

Co. That Builds The Border Fence Caught Hiring Illegals!!!

heard it last night on CNN and wasn't sure I heard it right. I just got home and did a Google search and sure enought it's for real!!

Company that built a border fence pleads guilty to hiring illegal immigrant

Dec 14 2006 3:33PM
Associated Press
Company that built a border fence pleads guilty to hiring illegal
immigrants

SAN DIEGO (AP) A Southern California fence-building company,
its founder and another executive have pleaded guilty to knowingly
hiring illegal immigrants. They'll pay a combined penalty of five
(m) million dollars.

Prosecutors will ask for sentences of six months, but prison
time is rare in such cases.

The fine, however, is one of the biggest ever imposed in an
immigration case. The company will pay most of it. Founder and
president Mel Kay will forfeit 200-thousand-dollars. Manager
Michael McLaughlin will pay 100-thousand.

The two men admitted hiring at least ten illegal immigrants. The
immigration service has said there were many more. A defense
attorney said: "People slip through the cracks" and that
"mistakes were made."
Among Golden State Fence's projects in recent years was part of
a 14-mile border fence in San Diego.

11. I have figured out his whole shtick.
"The world is against me, I have always had such a hard time in life, everyone else had a leg up in life but me, waaah waaah waah."

Oh please. You are not the only one, Bill-O. And now you're the darling of the rich and successful. The "I'm just a poor guy who had to work hard and get ahead by the sweat of my own brow" crap has worn thin. Way thin.

And NO person who can call himself a journalist ever tells people to "just shut up." EVER.

He may have some unusual opinions for a conservative nutjob, but that doesn't impress me. At all.

And he thinks he's not an "entertainer" like Rush, but a journalist?

A working-class guy who makes $10 million a year. Yeah. Right.

39. He got caught in his lie about Maria Schiver
after telling Wallace that it was her family name that got her her big start in the L.A. media. Wallace made sure to factually comment that Schiver got her start in a low level position in Philadelphia.
Bellow is spitefully jealous and angry that he never had the integrity to serve major network news and his attacks on networks is proof positive of it. He owes his soul to Murdoch.

32. CBS is just giving equal time...the did a glowing KO profile this morning
Very glowing, whereas the 60 Minutes profile of Billo was not very complimentary. Wallace called him a "proven liar" and frequently stopped him when he tried to do his whiny "Oh, nobody loves me" routine. I think it was a good stroke to air them both on the same day, although back-to-back would have been way cooler. The only thing that really pissed me off about the Billo bit was that 60 Minutes kept telling about Bill's fabulous massive ratings, but never pointed out how they're dropping like a stone while KO's are UP over 80% since this time last year.

34. The ratings changes should have been the topic but this was not equal time.
Burying KO on Sunday Morning and featuring Billo on 60 Minutes (complete with commercials promoting it) is not equal time. Hell, 60 Minutes gave a feature on Jim Cramer's CNBC show last year. A comparison of the two shows, complete with controversies and comparisons to Bushco's ratings, would have been much more interesting. But that would have had to rely on competancy at 60 Minutes.

I sense a David Brock appearance on Countdown tomorrow.

27. well it would have been nice in the old 60 minutes style
they used to challenge people. Now they just give them publicity. Mike just sat there and let him call Al Franken a "character assassin". Challenge him, tanjit! Make him prove that. What did Al say that was not true?

Time for you to retire, Mike. Letterman gave him a harder time than you did, old buddy of Reagan.

36. Mike Wallace was never a real journalist.
In 1959, he asked Rod Serling "for the time being and for the foreseeable future, you've given up on writing anything important for television, right?" This was in response to Serling working on The Twilight Zone, one of the best writen television shows ever (This is not up for debate).

Ignorant + Arrogant = Asshole.

8. Oh thank goodness!
Because after all, Mr. O'Reilly is such a misunderstood fellow, who is just so shut out of the nation's airwaves wholly unable to get his side of things out there for the public. It's such a wonderful public service that 60 Minutes is providing a platform for this poor chap to finally, finally! have a chance to tell his side of things without a filter, without any kind of editing to get in the way.

Sheesh.

That's his whole shtick. "Look at me, I'm an outsider JUST LIKE YOU! Sure, I make $10 million a year and am admitted to the inner sanctum to be adored by wealthy Republican politicos everywhere, but...really, I'm just standing there on the outside of life with my nose pressed to the glass! Aren't you ever so lucky I am fighting for people like you and me????"

He could retire tomorrow and live 200 years on his $10/million net worth in easy comfort. (or if it's $10 mil/yr, for a much longer period of time...)

16. Was that an old interview?
I mean, nothing really discussed that has happened since 2004?

O'Lielly's not mad that he had to work his way up, he's mad because now that he has he knows he is still an "outsider" even if they let him sit at the table with them for a while. After all, a "Shriver" could walk into the room and they could kick him back to the kids table. At least that's what I heard during that interview.

17. My wife was sitting there and came up with the same thing - why the publicity
for O'Really?? on 60 min? After watching him, I am even more certain that he is the dangerous combination of crazy and assertive - he is a partisan, stupid, self centered, megalomaniacal bully. Why he gets an audience of even 1 is a testament to how screwed up our society is.

Edited on Sun Feb-25-07 08:02 PM by Fighting Irish
...when they rolled out Bill O'Liely, I almost turned the damn channel. I really was not in the mood for this asshat.

Nonetheless, I kept the TV on, while I screwed around on the computer. Usual shuck n' jive. Keeps trying to convince everyone how 'blue collar' he really is, that he isn't driving around in a Mercedes (ironically, his wife does, and O'Really won't ride in it :eyes:), how Maria Shriver got her start in LA because of her family connections while he worked in Scranton (in reality, Shriver was a desk clerk in Philly). Also claims he only said 'shut up' a mere six times (he said it more than that during the Jeremy Glick interview).

In other words, more ramblings and bullshit by a very arrogant and insecure media asshole. There is no political ideology with these clowns, it's all about their fragile egos.
