Al Gore hears the call...
I drew this back in June of last year, but I think it warrants a re-run...

Quakers take stewardship of the earth as a key part of their faith and practice. We're hoping for a big turnout.

Also aspiring to use the opportunity to convert a lot of people....to compact florescent bulbs and better gas mileage!

Al Gore is too good of a man to engage in such childish political revenge. We get the government we deserve. Simple as that.

21. Why is it revenge if the man who actually won
in 2000 decides to run now particularly when he has a much better chance of winning for the Dems and is not as polarizing a figure as Hillary.

33.  he would not use a political brawl as a reason to run for president
Edited on Mon Feb-26-07 12:08 PM by RestoreGore
He specifically stated that he was not going to run in 2004 if that was the reason. He has also moved on to the future regardless of the image some still wish to project of him. He would not do so for revenge or use 2000 as the reason. Period. I didn't state what I did above to HIM or about him. I was referring to people who constantly push him to run now, because I know that for some that revenge and who a certain candidate is IS the reason, and I know so because he was not pushed like this in 2004. And again, it is only about WINNING and not about issues, and that is one reason that makes this system so toxic, which is why he said it was toxic and has no intentions of running. Truly, there will have to come a point where that will sink in with people.

Maybe the Supreme Court should step in and change the vote of the Academy.
After all, they have as much right to do this here as they did in Florida in 2000.

28. Hey, thank you!
I'm genuinely touched...(in the head, so some say!). I can't believe this cartoon got so many recs! Thanks to all my fellow DUers. I haven't drawn a new cartoon in well over a month, I've been so disgusted, but this kinda motivates me to get back to the proverbial drawing board.

As for Seabeyond...well, dude, it's a cartoon. The genesis was actually all the calls for Al to get in the race; My cartoonist mind tried thinking of ways to represent Al responding, and the 'internets' came to mind...which led to the internet cafe...which led to ducking into a phone booth...which led to a Superman analogy. Come on, man, I don't think Al is SUPERMAN! It's a JOKE, a cartoon!

By the way, Mice don't wear big red pants with white buttons on the front, and ducks don't wear pantless sailor suits, just in case you were a bit confused! (Just kidding...ducks go around pantless all the time).

41. Well, since you asked...
I drew it first in pencil, then traced my pencil drawing using a brush-tipped ink pen. I scanned in my drawing at 800 dpi (overkill) and then retouched and modified the lines and parts of the drawing I didn't like (you gotta look close - more fun than a "Where's Waldo" book!); then I colorized the whole thing in Photoshop. The type was added with Adobe Illustrator. Then I downsize it to make it work on the web, and viola...a cartoon.

Here is the original ink drawing...

Also, you might like this this page. It shows the whole process step by step.
