democratic speechoff, a couple weeks ago, it was not Obama or Clinton who really excited me and tripped my trigger. The two most exciting and enthusiasm building were Mike Gravel and Chris Dodd. Most of the rest of the pack were less than inspiring to downright boring.
I got turned off to John Edwards because he said he thought the drug war, in its current incarnation, was a good Idea. That's too bad since Mr. Edwards is a really good guy in a lot of ways.
Senator Clinton has gaffed my support-and not long ago I was a medium supporter. She is so involved with showing how tough she is that she won't allow that we know how tough she is-we want to see how human she is. There is just too much about her that I identify as being republican, one of which is that she, too, doesn't see the fact that, since Tricky Dick Nixon's decision to use the drug war as a way to police the under thirty group's bid to fix the problems in America and the more than one hundred billion spent on persecution, disenfranchisement and miserable war on American citizens, the nation's drug policies are a problem.
Dennis Kucinich has some excellent Ideas, although I am coming to learn he has a previous history of feet of clay. The problem I have with him-or a small problem-is his clownish/tragic presentation. He's almost painful to listen to and I'm unsure whether to expect his next move to be a serious presentation of facts and solutions demonstrating a deep understanding or a double back flip with a red bulb nose and a squacking horn.
There were other candidates and other problems that I remarked upon-this isn't the proper forum. It was a total surprise, but Gravel and Dodd turned me on.
