Jimmy Carter kicked off the Gore Campaign yesterday
I was watching This Week yesterday, and enjoying the interview with President Carter. I knew he would be a guest and it had been leaked earlier in the week that he would "endorse" Al Gore in the interview. I wondered out loud as I was watching President Carter talk about world health and Palestine- Why is Jimmy Carter on today? His book isn't new, and while his take is always relevant, it struck me as a strange choice given the current news cycle. But now it makes perfect sense, it's Oscar night, Mr. Gore's night. The whole purpose of the interview was to get that endorsement out there, played perfectly to show Gore as his choice while still portraying him as the reluctant non-candidate. During the rest of the program, George kept steering the conversation back to Al Gore. I am digging it. It makes me totally confident that Gore is in, and the political strategy side of it is fun to watch.

3. I'm rested up after the mid-terms.
So if Al announces, I'm all in.

5. Is the President-Elect of 2000 using the "Dick Cheney Strategy Book?"
(I found my copy in the trash at Comedy Central, so maybe not!)

This better be a comedy. From the (hopefully not) Cheney playbook:

"If they think you are not a candidate, the propaganda machines won't be smearing you ever day."

"Wait until the last minute to announce."

Hopefully, there will be only one VP in the race, the President-Elect of 2000.

8. Well as long as it isn't Bob Shrum's
strategy book, he should be fine.
