Claims about Jesus’ ‘lost tomb’ stir up tempest

JERUSALEM - Archaeologists and clergymen in the Holy Land derided claims in a new documentary produced by James Cameron that contradict major Christian tenets, but the Oscar-winning director said the evidence was based on sound statistics.

"The Lost Tomb of Christ," which the Discovery Channel will run on March 4, argues that 10 ancient ossuaries — small caskets used to store bones — discovered in a suburb of Jerusalem in 1980 may have contained the bones of Jesus and his family, according to a press release issued by the Discovery Channel.

One of the caskets even bears the title, "Judah, son of Jesus," hinting that Jesus may have had a son. And the very fact that Jesus had an ossuary would contradict the Christian belief that he was resurrected and ascended to heaven.
-------------------

Personally, I think the whole thing would be better served if Jesus turned out to be a man, not a god, but that's just me. His followers would be relieved of the ability to make a copout that his precepts couldn't possibly be followed the way he himself followed them because he was a god and we're only human beings.

Give the theologians enough time, they'll rewrite the resurrection and ascension into heaven. I have no faith in gods or their religions, but I do have great faith in theologians to justify both.

19. They probably had to bury Jesus many, many times
Even if this is the right Jesus we have no way of knowing whether this grave site is from his first burial or his thirtieth.

16. AHH SOME ACTUAL THEOLOGICAL MEAT
The notion of Jesuse as Deity on earth is an interesting issue.

If He said do what I do..and yet he was doing it as deitiy. We could never measure....he cheated....not fair....Although such a position requires one to accept his divinity.

On the other hand, if he was not divine, but said he was perhaps a mad man, but acting with great power to heal and with great humility.

The four Gospel account all written seperately sugges that he was was in fact Divine , but that he took on the nature of man and for the season on earth empties himeself of his divine nature.

James Cameron makes me want to vomit. Now he has as much credibility as Geraldo.
