Latest RW meme. Quote: "Did Al Gore fly on a private jet to the Oscars?"
Edited on Mon Feb-26-07 07:11 PM by Gabi Hayes
I just heard some blonde bimbette ask that question on Tucker's show.

You should have seen the smug, sneering countenance.....oooohhhh, how I'd like to.....

nobody answered it, so I wonder what the reality is?

My guess is that he flew commercial, and this is just another of those "questions" they like to ask that absolve them of responsibility for making false accusations.

this was during a discussion of Gore's possibly running in 08, while mentioning that he's third in many polls.

EDIT: Wolf B is going to discuss the political impact of Gore's appearance at the Oscars?

Prediction: bigtime slamming will occur

did you see that thread here earlier that claims Gore uses twenty times the electricity as the average Tennessee consumer?

the claim was made by some RW "public interest" group

15. That's been going around since at least September.
I was talking to a freeper after a candidate forum, and he refuses to see "An Inconvenient Truth" because Gore flies around the country on a jet.

His arms would be awful tired if he wasn't flying on a jet.

20. she made a very clear distinction between a private and commercial jet,
and the effects both have on the environment.

that was her point: using tiny little points of obfuscatory BS, combined with smearing assertion, a 'cleverly' disguised as an honest question, to belittle Gore, replant the seed that he's just a hypocrite.

words - she is insinuating that he is a phony - he flies off to accept an Oscar on the effect to the environment and uses all that fuel to fly privately. Says he should have flown commercially (or a bus - my words).

That creature is lucky that the nation is not questioning the unbelievable amount of fuel it's costing for Generals and everyone else to commute back and forth to Iraq over a three year period.

Anyone want to guess the number of gallons of fuel that's been used for commuting? Well, I guess that's just the cost of perpetual war unfairly paid by the taxpayers, including illegal immigrants.

Little Lord Pissypants flew back to Texas most nights on the campaign trail to sleep in his own bed. But of course the freepers aren't going to bitch about HIS (vastly more inefficient and vain) use of fuel. :grr:  :puke:

We ought to be throwing the same things out -- who pays for Swingin Dick Deadeye to go flying all over the world on Air Force Two, burning tons of fossil fuel?

How much energy does BILL FRIST's house use in a year?

As Hillary has said, let's DECK our opponents!!!

11. And asking the question actually puts the idea in people's minds that he...
...did fly by private jet, whether or not it's true. After all, the only difference between the question and the statement is the punctuation at the end. Fox Noise does this all the time.

It should be said, too, that, if Al Gore flew by private jet, he most definitely purchased carbon offsets to make up for it.

This statement of course should be said with a pleasing smile on your face.

I smell Creative Response Concepts
They start much of this shit. Plant a talking point and get their pimps in
the media to repeat it and repeat it the truth be damned.

BTW the big picture is what happens w/ CO 2 on a global scale not
just what is Al Gore's carbon footprint. It is a big plus and minus
concept so if Al flies a private plane to a talk and puts out x amount of
CO 2 but inspires 3,200 to all reduce their CO 2 output the big picture
for planet health says good on Al .... because all those people changing
their action along w/ their family and friends that will save tons of CO 2 far more
then was produced by Al's plane.

you're so correct, though, that they're afraid he's going to run, and they KNOW he'd make a much tougher opponent than anybody else on the Dem horizon. that's why they're gearing up the smear machine so soon.

I know someone was because I'm already schooled on the facts.

Gore does fly commercial when it's possible. He also purchases offsets to account for the carbon emissions of his travel.

about carbon offsets, or anything at all that has to do with reasoned discussion

this question, posed as it was, is just another weapon in their infinite arsenal. it's the only thing they're good at.

nobody's going to remember that Gore didn't fly private to the Oscars, or that, if he did, he offset said travel with carbon offsets

all that matters is that the little seed of "Gore hypocrite" has been said, planted alongside the fully mature plant of "Gore the liar"

He does so more often than not, so the odds are against them on being correct at all. It would appear they may be grasping at straws? No matter what it's a great way to educate people about carbon offsets and how they work. ;)

39. It is the RW tactic to make everything personal
These are policy questions. Instead of dealing with the question, the freeper tries to make it personal - Edwards has a big house, etc.

As if rich liberals should give all their money to the poor and live at the same level. While they, the RW nutjobs, who are rich, get to live high on the hog and let the rich liberals or the middle class deal with helping the poor.

Al Gore can't save the ozone layer alone, it is a bigger question than just what a few people might be able to do. In their residences, no less.
