According to an article in the Times Online, several top US generals vow they will "quit" if Bush orders an attack on Iran. This comes in the wake of a recent report in The New Yorker magazine that the Pentagon has established one of their infamous "working groups" on airstrikes against Iran. The Times reports: "the panel initially focused on destroying Iran’s nuclear facilities and on regime change but has more recently been instructed to identify targets in Iran that may be involved in supplying or aiding militants in Iraq."

Neither the US generals, nor Congress, nor the American people want to see Bush preemtively strike ayet another nation, but will that make a difference?

The question we've asked on previous shows bears repeating: if government leaders act against the will of the people, against the will of our elected representatives, against the international community, and even against the advice of their own military officers . . . then is it not a dictatorship? What is left of Democracy then?

Along those same lines, New Yorker columnist Sy Hersch was interviewed on yesterday's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer," where he discussed his latest article about how the Bush Crime Family is secretly funding Sunni groups with links to al Qaeda in hopes of defeating mounting Shiite dominence of the Mid East.

Hersh told Blitzer "It is probably the single most explosive, if you will, or depressing — or distressing sort of thing I discovered in the last few months . . . We are simply in a situation where this president is really taking his notion of executive privilege to the absolute limit here, running covert operations, using money that was not authorized by Congress, supporting groups indirectly that are involved with the same people that did 9/11, and we should be arresting these people rather than looking the other way…"

Is this the end of America as we knew it? Or has that ship already sailed.

My "kitties" are Snowball (5), Dot (4) and Coco (9 months).

I lost my 21-year-old granny-cat about ten months ago; she'd only been to the vet when she was really young (maybe that was her secret). She just looked at me, coughed, and went. I'm better about that now.

Coco is a genuine terra-ist; the other two run when she's headed their way. I always worry about the young one getting picked on by the older ones - but the opposite happens. Has anyone noticed that kittens can be obnoxious a great deal of the time?

Iron Chef Gumby was enjoying the meal and watching KO when there was a knock on the door at 7:30pm. 7:30pm?????
There was a young female solicitor at the door. Don't know what she was collecting for.... said I had no $ (true) and then went into "intervention mode." I asked if she was OK? I asked if she needed help to get away. I asked if she needed to come inside to be rescued.

She seemed shocked and I asked if she knew the horrible stories about the people who went door-to-door? Of course not.

I again offered my help to rescue her. She was shaken.... but I was actually serious. Bye-bye.
