Why The Deafening Silence About Gore's House?
....when the Edward's house saga dragged on for days.

Shouldn't those of you that complained about Edward's house be furious about Gore's too?

I'm just saying.

2. What are the specs on Gore's house?
And what is he doing to raise awareness about global climate change, the need for conservation, etc.?

4. The Gores are more proactive at this point.
The Gore's have taken numerous steps to reduce the carbon footprint of their private residence, including signing up for 100 percent green power through Green Power Switch, installing solar panels, and using compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy saving technology.

14. Well, thanks at least for something about what the Gore's attempts
are. I don't understand the need of some people who seem to want to turn this into a different sort of class war.

If my family could've afforded it we would have built a house of similar sq. ftg. (approx. 2860+) only with a different floor plan and EXTREMELY environmentally friendly. Unfortunately for us, solar energy, etc., wasn't up to what we could justify to start over. We're waiting for solar window units, etc., to improve for existing homes.

We began changing our light bulbs out approx. 1 yr. ago, and we raised our kids on conservation. I don't feel as though we do enough, and my kids are constantly questioning, but we're waiting for technologies to improve as we can't afford to invest over and over again.

in order to live in ostentation and conspicuous consumption while going around talking about the "two America's."

People wondered about his and Elizabeth's judgment- and rightly so!

8. Al Gore is not a candidate
Edited on Mon Feb-26-07 09:44 PM by RestoreGore
He is a private citizen who is carbon neutral. And at the rate the threads here are going regarding his house, his weight, is he running, and ANYTHING to detract from discussing the climate crisis because dishing about this bull is so much more "important", I hope he stays a private citizen. Who needs this crap 24.7?

11. It's always baiting when you point out hypocrisy
when you agree with an OP, somehow it miraculously loses it's "baiting" tag.

13. I do agree with you. Just don't see the point of the OP.
At least, not on this forum. I guess my wool is a bit too dyed.

17. My feeling is either both Gore and Edwards are hypocrites
or neither of them are.

I vote for neither, because I think if you can afford to live in a big house, no one should begrudge you.

But sometimes here we build up icons to such fevered untouchable status that we tie ourselves into pretzels defending them when we shouldn't. Witness Cindy Sheehan and the venom thrown at any DU'er who had the balls to disagree with her publicly over Chavez, etc.
