So
Why, other than tradition, do we have a bunch of territories? PR and the rest. Why do we not either bundle them up and make them states or turn them loose?

3. Since when did we
have a problem putting bases on soil not really our own? Ask Germany, Japan, and pretty much anywhere else about that.

5. PR can decide to leave if they like
They have had a number of elections on the topic. They can go independent, become a state or stay a territory with almost all the benefits of a state, but no Fed income tax. Staying a territory always wins.

7. I spent
a good while looking up the territories. mostly wikipedia info. I as familiar as one can be with them without really knowing much.

Part of my question is why do the rest of us put up with it? Why cannot we put it to them as an ultimatim. Put up or shut up, statehood or go away? Why are the rest of us stuck holding down this loophole?

6. PR, AS, VI, and GU can leave if and when they want. DC is the real issue.
Or they can petition for statehood. I think, all things considered, they enjoy not being taxed :)

DC is the one truly colonial jurisdiction.
