12. Let Me Give You Some Analysis

While CYA economists use traditional, simple minded, and two dimensional descriptors of economic behavior, there are some long range facts in play:

1) The adjusted real growth rate {(nominal GDP delta * (1 - change in population) - inflation - delta in money growth) has been for the last 6 years in the bottom quintile of all years since WWII.

2) Real wage growth has been slower during this period than at ANY time since WWII save 1978.

3) The fraction of GDP that is NEW governmental borrowing has never been higher. Meaning the weak growth is basically propped up to > zero by deficit spending. IOW, there is no true growth. Has never happened since WWII. We're now at 7 years in a row.

4) Total inflation, which DOES include food and energy, on a smoothed out household basis, is the highest it's been since 1981. These 6 years are ALL in the bottom quartile since WWII.

If that's considered a healthy economy by someone, that "someone" doesn't know what they're talking about.

spendable income in our area. Restaurants, home furnishings, everything, and wait till spring when all the guys who went into lawn care when they lost their factory jobs......wait until all their customers dry up.

There is a local young fellow who is an auto mechanic. He has a garage right along side of his house. He works all the time and he works cheap. He's a friend too. I was talking to Darrel about Christmas time and he told me this was his slow time of year. He said the work would really pick up in the spring when income tax checks came rolling in and all the winter dents got fixed.

This year winter heating oil ate up the tax checks and he's got no work.
