I don't have enough posts to send private messages, so I am forced to post this here, but does someone closer to the case than I know what Gov Siegelman is allowed to get under present circumstances? i have tons of stamps I will not be using since I shifted to completely online communications and bill paying. If I sent my unused stamps, would Gov Siegelman receive them, or are communication tools banned?

Read that last sentence, and think about the utter bullshit that I even have to ask that question.

a recent foray I had into incarceration, and sending writing materials, stamps, etc to an inmate(which I did, because I didn't have a clue)....they are NOT allowed, because the prisoners are expected to buy their own from the prison commissary. I believe you could send him a money order(which has to have his prison number on it) to buy these items with, but not the items themselves..wb

edited to add this: I have nothing to do with Siegelman's case, this was an experience I had....my kid who was a prison guard in our state, (which is not Alabama) said this is the way it works here..I would imagine the rules are pretty much the same in any prison..

3. Well then, time to amend the question to:
Could we get writing materials to Gov. Seigelman through his legal counsel if we had that address? And, if so, does anyone have the address of his legal representatives?

5. This would be a good way to go. Almost everything that is allowed
is in the commissary. To be sure it gets to him go through his legal staff.

6. Commissary prices are probably ridiculously high. How ridiculous
that people can't send basic, obviously non-dangerous items, such as writing paper and stamps.

7. Bingo. The prison system in this country are out to make money any
way they can. That may account for why 1 out of every 100 people is in prison in the US.

9. re commissary prices -- talk about the ultimate captive clientele! Probably way worse than airport
prices.
