Watching the Daily Show...I must say, Code Pink and Berkeley look incredibly idiotic
I think Rob Riggle just nailed them to a wall about how ridiculous some of their arguments are regarding a marine recruiting station in Berkeley.

Thoughts?

They need to continue to fight the real culprit--war and its proponents. The soldiers are just doing a job. It's always the goldhats to look to for policy decisions. I hope they take it on up where it needs to be.

7. I must be schizophrenic
because I support my Marine son (a proud liberal) and Code Pink. I empathize with Code Pink's fervent desire for peace while understanding that there is a need for the military. I wish my son was only deployed to rescue people in times of natural disasters, like Katrina. Or was deployed to help American citizens escape to safety from areas in other countries during times of civil unrest. The good people of Berkeley need to take on the people who have used our Marines so dishonestly. They certainly have a right to their protest. What is wonderful about our country is that we have the Marines and Code Pink. We need them both.

45. no, but i like FCUK; it's a pretty clothes designer and makes for a great shtick
i keep thinking of French Connection United Kingdom and it just leaves me with a smile. i think it should be a sort of handle to set the poster apart. well, before i steal the idea for myself.

but i also have no problems with what berkeley does. they can get away with stirring up stuff that few other cities will ever have the testicular/ovarian fortitude to ever attempt, even if it's only benefit is to draw attention to some fucked up shit. most places like sitting still, being quiet, and playing along while they get gang banged by cronies in power (hmm, i think i can write a script for a power bottom porn video for that...).

berkeley shakes stuff up and gets away with a good deal of it, even if it "looks bad to mainstreet, usa", because of its perception to the nation. if any american city voice could have spoken up berkeley could have and would have been it. therefore, berkeley should have spoken up, and in a directly confrontational way, because no one else had even the temerity to take it to that level. someone's gotta say it's not all right; silence equals consent in the world of power -- which is why silence equals death. you either speak up and get in peoples' faces or you shut up, ship off, and die.

no, there is no third way with power. even gandhi acknowledged power doesn't give to you freely, you must demand from it. if some people in america are still concerned over keeping up appearances over the abuse and needless death of our troops, now that's a travesty worth outrage. and those such people aren't worth any sane person's 'FCUK'ing time. let them think berkeley is crazy for disrupting appearances of normalcy -- fcuk 'em, they're sick SOBs to have such screwed up priorities.

I think it's typical of the kind of lazy liberal intellectualism that occurs in deep blue areas. Many of these people have clearly never been questioned on their opinions, never had to seriously think them through the issues and have never been confronted with alternative viewpoints. They are just going along with the crowd. They are the liberal equivalent of dittoheads.

In my opinion, this is why some of our best and toughest liberal thinkers come from red and purple states. Being in the minority of thinking makes you question and refine your ideas and opinions. You also learn to abandon the frivolous arguments and choose your battles.

I spent about 6 years in Texas prior to moving to California. In Texas if you're a Liberal, it's a constant struggle against all the Conservative BS...but it keeps you sharp. It keeps you informed. Here in Cali.....it's more like "Look how much more Liberal I am than you!!!".

I've seen it myself.

Need proof? Just look at how much more active the Texas DU forum is to the California one.

When you're "surrounded by your own" for so long, you tend to get lazy I think.
