47. Aww bummer. All I saw was a bright orange glow on the horizon
and then it was gone into the cloud cover. :-(

Oh well. I've seen quite a few in the past. On a clear night it almost looks as if the sun is rising.

50. Just a bright orange glow on the horizon. The clouds are thick and low
here. A lot of my neighbors were out. I heard one say "Wow. That was crappy". I guess we should have watched it on TV, lol!

I've seen plenty of launches before, though. Night launches are the best-it looks like the sun is rising rapidly across the sky. I saw one near-sunset launch too, where the trail turned every color of the rainbow. That was amazing. The best daytime launch I saw was John Glenn's last flight.

Oddly enough, my cousin was dating Commander Harrington (can't remember which shuttle launch he commanded) for a couple of years. They're still friends and I've yet to meet im and ask about his experiences. Now THERE'S a good seat for the launch-though nothing I would ever want to do, mind you. ;-)

I'm in downtown Orlando, but you still get a good view from here. Sometime I'll try to post a few of my launch photos.

My neighbor is really spoiled. He's a journalist and gets to watch the launch AT ksc!

They remind me of the one that I had a VIP pass for in 1989, but it scrubbed both nights that went to watch it due to high winds, but the night I third night, the night I didn't make the trip, it launched.:(

53. Sadly, that happens alot.
My neighbor is a British journalist and he gets sent down there for EVERY launch (he's there now). Homeland security puts him through hell EVERY TIME.During those times it gets scrubbed over and over again he gets very tired and very grumpy.

49. It all has to do with the position of the International Space Station
Sometimes they have to launch at night, or else they have to wait for another month or so. With the end of the program coming so soon, they can't afford to wait for only day launches, I guess.

I stood outside in my driveway but it must have been too overcast here tonight. Didn't see a thing!!!! And, I was the only one in the neighborhood still up standing out there like an idiot. Everyone else is asleep in their beds. You think by now I'd have seen enough of them......looks like it would have been more fun to be on here during the launch. Night all....

Much nicer than Daytona Beach and more convenient that New Smyrna Beach.

Plus, I loved having the Bar "Coconuts on the Beach" there, always a good time there on a Saturday afternoon.

Here at NC you could still see it fly about 7 and a half minutes after lauch usually. Last time I saw one was Culumbia on its last flight before its re-entry crash. All I could see through the binoculars was a orange dot, and behind it, a shock wave.
