Sweden: How much of a monthly allotment do people on disability get?
I nearly got into an argument with my right-wing mother again, but I'm tired of just buttoning my lip.

I was wondering if someone knows how much of a monthly allotment a person on disability in Sweden gets and how this compares to the cost of living. In other words, I want to see if Sweden is supporting people like me better than the United States does. I'm going to guess it does, but I want hard figures.

3. Just found it
From WSJ 2007:

Sweden offers two kinds of benefits for those unable to work for health reasons: sick pay for those who expect to return to their jobs when they recover, and disability pensions for those who aren't expected to re-enter the work force. Both types of benefits pay recipients 80% of their previous salary, up to a maximum of 25,183 Swedish kronor, or $3,735 a month.

It then goes on to point out how much money the government spends on these programs and how they can be abused. :eyes:

7. I became disabled before I was able to work, so this doesn't apply to me.
I get $850 gross. I have to rely on family, which is extremely uncomfortable.

9. I know this doesn't apply
...but if you were living in the UK you'd be entitled to Disability benefit (which could include Mobility benefit), Job Seeker's benefit if you were able to work and actively looking for a job, Incapacity benefit if not, a council house, and a home carer if necessary. Not to mention free medical under NHS.

It would not surprise me if Sweden had similar schemes.

94,320 kronar which works out to about 14+ grand.

but they also pay for everything else: cradle to grave. I am hoping the numbers are right here. Google Kronar and it will give you lists of stuff.
I think this is based on158 kronar to the dollar but I bet the rate is better now.
