2. Seattle has really been hit this winter.
Unlike Portland, which has only had a bit of bad weather. Seriously, the residents of Seattle would be far better off moving to Anchorage this winter.

3. We moved here in 2005 from Central Washington
In Yakima, this is nuthin' but man, we've been hit this year. In Snohomish, we have 3 inches which is deep for this side of the mountains.

18. I'm from Fulton. we go to Syracuse to get out of the snow!
Seriously - there are two problems here

1. That snow looks like the wet greasy stuff that falls when it's about 30-32deg. It falls too fast for the plows to keep up and it's like
so much cold cream spread on the road.

2.When you get snow like that, the only way to drive is to pretend you have no brakes. Slow down and keep your distance from other vehicles. If you have to touch the brake, you're driving too fast and/or too close!

Well, in Snohomish County anyway. Little "town" of Lakewood. I remember one year from my childhood (probably mid to late 70s) when nearly all of the seven lakes froze solid - enough to ice skate on. I think Lake Goodwin was the only one that didn't freeze completely.

In 2004 I drove this route for every Seahawks game. I never saw anything like this. it is a mess.

19. Seattle snow is not yakima Snow...
In Seattle the snow turns to ICE on the roads...

e.g. 3 inches of snow in seattle is equal to 1 Inch of of ice on the road...

no traction, all ice.

I'll see you slip sliding away.....

9. Only one serious injury, the cable news says.
Supposedly around 50 cars/trucks/boats/trailers on the overpass area just west of the pass heading westbound. State patrol estimates many hours left to clear out the wrecks. It's a nasty spot that always gets slippery and westbound traffic is closed.
Dramatic as hell, but no deaths I don't think. Views from the local news helicopter were really something, more wrecked cars in one spot than I've ever seen around here in 60 years.

10. My SIL is supposed to be driving from Idaho to Seattle on Friday.
I'm kind of hoping she decides to stay home. She can drive just fine in the snow, but lots of people can't.
