Der Mittenfurer is desperate.
With his campaign hitting a few speed bumps, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is hoping to use the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) that kicks off Thursday to regain the early buzz that won him support from the right.

And Romney is paying dozens of college Republicans to lend him a hand.

Romney, along with every other Republican presidential hopeful except Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), will address what organizers predict will be an audience of close to 5,000 at the 34th annual gathering of conservative activists in Washington.

<snip>

The Romney camp has such an aggressive nature that it is footing the bill for two vans to haul college students in from Massachusetts and Michigan, and will pay the $25 registration fee for them as well as other college Republicans from the Washington area to attend.

1. He's bound to burn through all his money before too long..
he sounds desperate and undisciplined. Quite clueless, in fact. I predict crash and burn in the not too distant future.

2. Idon't think Mitt stands much of a chance, but WHY isn't McCain
going to speak? With his#'s falling like a rock, I would thinkhe'd be front and center to show everyone how much better he was than the rest!

3. What's with the "Mittenfuehrer"?
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 01:36 PM by Kelly Rupert
The line on Romney is that he has no real ideological positions whatsoever. The Right is reluctant to accept him, since as little as two years ago he was calling himself "basically pro-choice." He's hardly the insanely-warped Nazi the name implies, especially since he's kicking off this program because the Republicans think he's a donkey in elephant's clothing? I mean, I'm all for silly playground insults, but shouldn't we at least make sure that they make some sort of sense?

Not to criticize randomly, but it would make more sense if you went with "Multiple-choice Mitt," "Turnaround Mitt," "Flip-flop Mitt," etc., etc.
