Yeah, just heard the news myself. That the 'news' of them being aware of it for quite some time is getting press, somebody's gotta go. Interesting that they relieved him though instead of the old 'time with his family' routine.

Was this the same guy that offered to resign at the start of it?

Remove and charge the General at Abu Ghraib for policies implemented by ChimpCo itself. Remove the Commander at Walter Reed only when ChimpCo's failings become politically embarrassing. My Pet Scapegoat volume #23.

General who oversees Walter Reed hospital relieved of duties
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The commanding general at Walter Reed Army Medical Center was removed from the post Thursday by Secretary of the Army Dr. Francis Harvey, the Army announced.

The action against Maj. Gen. George Weightman followed revelations of poor conditions in parts of the medical complex. Weightman also was commanding general of the North Atlantic Regional Medical Command.

In a written statement, the Army said it is working quickly to addresses problems at the facility.

"Maj. Gen. Weightman was informed this morning that the senior Army leadership had lost trust and confidence in the commander's leadership abilities to address needed solutions for soldier-outpatient care at Walter Reed Army Medical Center," the statement said.

"The commanding general of U.S. Army Medical Command, Lt. Gen. Kevin Kiley, will be acting temporarily as Walter Reed commander until a general officer is selected for this important leadership position." (Posted 2:01 p.m.)

Again, so sorry to hear of his recent loss.

43. This is not good. Kiley did nothing with serious complaints he received
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 03:25 PM by caligirl
This is what Bev Young, Congressman Young's wife said was her experience with Kiley and this isn't all of it.

"Beverly Young said she complained to Kiley several times. She once visited a soldier who was lying in urine on his mattress pad in the hospital. When a nurse ignored her, Young said, "I went flying down to Kevin Kiley's office again, and got nowhere. He has skirted this stuff for five years and blamed everyone else."

Young said that even after Kiley left Walter Reed to become the Army's surgeon general, "if anything could have been done to correct problems, he could have done it."

Soldiers and family members say their complaints have been ignored by commanders at many levels.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/20...

and there were other serious complaints to Kiley that went now where. Now he is in charge?
