Texas-Based Prosperity Gospel Minister Kenneth Copeland Caught Using People's $$ for Vacations

For the past several months, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland of Fort Worth have been traveling the globe in a new $20 million jet. They pledged that the aircraft would be used for the purpose of serving their ministry. Are the Copelands practicing what they preach?

The Copelands are regarded by many as the most successful televangelists in the world, and they certainly look the part these days—jetting about in their new Cessna Citation, operated, they say, in exact accordance with federal tax law and used solely for ministry purposes. But flight records News 8 obtained raise questions...

According to flight records obtained by News 8, the Copeland jet, on its way to an evangelical seminar in Australia last October, made a two-day layover in Maui. Then it was on to the Fiji islands for another stop. After seven days in Australia, the Copelands headed to Honolulu for another three days of what they called "eating and rest..."

Concerns about Kenneth Copeland's jet travel came as no surprise to Pete Evans of the Trinity Foundation in Dallas. The organization has tracked the Copelands' aircraft and more than $20 million in property assets for years.

"It tells everybody that Christianity is about getting stuff, and not about giving your life for the people around you," Evans said.

These people who use God for personal gain really make me :puke: I always thought Christianity was about giving UP self and giving unto OTHERS. But Copeland and his pals see it as a way to get rich. Disgusting!

1. How many more hypocrites need to be
exposed before people throw them out of their churches?

I probably can't count that high, unfortunately!

4. I work down the freeway from
Trinity Broadcast Network
http://www.tbn.org/

I drive by it every day. It's a weird "church" that kind of looks like the White House, and it has this bronze eagle out front.

Oh, and starting around Halloween until last week, they have their "Happy Birthday Jesus" in lights up.

And next to the church is the a building where I think they do the filming. I've never seen any cars out there, but I'm not really looking and probably driving by at the wrong times.

On topic, more power to the exposure of these fake Christians. It's disgusting how they take advantage of others. They most definitely did not learn Jesus Christ's message.

5. I've driven by that same building...it's weird.
It DOES look like the White House. I was pretty surprised when I saw it.

TBN is most certainly in that "false Christians" category. There's a whole story about how TBN's founder covered up a homosexual affair with a young boy years ago. I think they've got so much money and are so powerful they were able to successfully cover it up without it getting out of hand.

Jesus was humble and promoted self-sacrifice. These guys are making a mockery out of His teachings. It is disgusting!

10. The best thing that ever happened to people like this is when
Someone came up with the idea that the Bible says that God promises you financial wealth, which you can very selectively use certain Bible verses to back that up. So now there's a whole scumbag population from the small time operator (the local guy who gives financial advice seminars based on Biblical principles) to these clowns who claim God will reward people who give money in His name (ie to their particular ministry).

A funny story: I worked with a guy who was cousins with a married couple who run a church in a smallish town east of Tulsa close to the Arkansas border. Large garish building. He told me about some of their practices like if you're visiting for the first time, they're going to ask you to perform, "a very important" task to help out with the seminar (like keeping the pastors' water glasses filled) to make them feel wanted. Anyway, the wife told the church that she would be out of town next weekend to take the church's donation money to whatever place they had been raising money for. It turns out that they had apparently been raising money for some of the gambling boats in Tunica, Missouri, which is where a non-church member resident ran into her that weekend. He says that a lot of the congregation left after that, but I'm sure they'll be able to toil along for a while then get back to where they were if not better. They're like cockroaches.

these people a pass? I just don't get that. They could every one of these people in jail for a very long time for not paying taxes on their lavish lifestyles.
