McCain Arrives In Utah, Corrects 'Wasted' Comment
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 02:26 PM by helderheid
AP) WASHINGTON During a stop in Utah, Republican presidential contender John McCain, corrected a statement he made Wednesday night on the David Letterman show about lives “wasted” in Iraq.

“What I meant was that lives have been sacrificed. But the war has been mismanaged,” McCain told reporters.

McCain, a staunch backer of the Iraq war but critic of how President Bush has waged it, told the Late Night audience that Americans have the right to be frustrated. "We've wasted a lot of our most precious treasure, which is American lives."

McCain, who repeated his assertion that U.S. troops must remain in Iraq rather than withdrawing early, made the "wasted" remark after confirming to Letterman what has been clear for at least a year or more — that he's in the running for the 2008 Republican nomination.

4. It's funny,..
The article I read about him didn't include his comment at all, so I didn't know he said that. But it rather had a completely unrelated paragraph about Obama's "fluke" :eyes:

5. If John Kerry would have said that you'd never hear the end of it.
Notice how the GOPers can make stupid mistakes but nobody else is allowed to do that?

6. Too bad Obama didn't and won't get the benefit of a doubt that the GOP/Media Establishment gives to
McCain.

7. McCain is the ultimate flip-flopper. In fact, all the top GOP prospects
(McCain, Rudy and Romney) are flip floppers and you don't catch the media constantly charging them with that like they did to Kerry.

9. Where's the anti-Obama-style Hissyfit by the RightWingNuts???
Remember the "outrage" when this quote went around the web?

OBAMA: "We ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized and should have never been waged and to which we have now spent $400 billion and has seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted."
