2. Well, you could read the link I posted,
but here's a snipit from it:

…marks a momentous turning point in the growing movement to restore our nation’s middle-class. Today, the voices of tens of millions of working people who deserve the right to make a free choice to bargain for a better life have been heard and heeded on Capitol Hill.

Because of today’s vote, the future looks a little brighter to all Americans who have watched corporations celebrate record profits, but have themselves been shut out of the party, left with stagnant wages and facing soaring costs. A union card is the single best ticket into the middle-class and, thanks to the Employee Free Choice Act, working people may finally have the chance to be part of a union.

Basically gives workers more ability to organize and fight for their rights.

3. The link is provided by the OP; it allows employees to be a part of
a union and to have bargaining power.

10. Good for them.
Does it stand a good chance to make it by the Senate? I heard * will veto it if it does.

11. Well, at least the House is doing all it can for working people.
Don't know if the Republics will filibuster it or not in the Senate. But I'm sure, in the pocket of every corporation, bush, will veto it if the bill passes the Senate.

Point is, we're doing our best to correct all the Republic horrors. The electorate WILL notice.

13. House OKs bill easing union organizing
Democrats rewarded organized labor Thursday for helping them retake control of Congress, passing a House bill that would make it easier for workers to start unions against companies' wishes.

The legislation, passed 241-185 on a nearly party-line vote, would take away the right of employers to demand secret-ballot elections by workers before unions could be recognized.

"It's simply about establishing fairness in the workplace," said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (news, bio, voting record), D-Md. Republican leader John Boehner (news, bio, voting record) of Ohio said the real issue was "taking care of union bosses."

The House action was the second triumph for labor following the Democratic takeover of Congress. The House and Senate also have voted on separate bills to raise the minimum wage.

14. Wow. That's a really good law.
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 06:28 PM by w4rma
About a week from today on 2009, this popular bill will become a law, assuming we win the Presidency. This bill is only 2 years from being written into law.

Heck, we might even be able to scare Rethugs into not filibustering or vetoing it, thereby allowing it to become a law this year.
