BREAKING: House Committee to Subpoena Ousted Prosecutors
By Paul Kiel - March 1, 2007, 4:42 PM

The House Judiciary Committee will be issuing subpoenas to four of the fired prosecutors this afternoon, according to a committee spokesperson.

The U.S. attorneys who will receive a subpoena are California's Southern District's Carol Lam, New Mexico's David Iglesias, Arkansas' Eastern District's H.E. "Bud" Cummins, and Washington's Western District's John McKay. They will testify next Thursday before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law.

More soon.

13. Bud Cummins has already given press interviews.
A pretty lengthy article appeared in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette sometime maybe last week or the week before. (Don't have the link right now - if anyone is interested, I'll look for it.)

14. Hope this helps us get started by taking down Gonzales!
I still think impeaching him (which would be a lot easier with a simple majority requirement in the Senate) will be a lot easier. We can point to many "on the fence" battleground state Republicans up for re-election in 2008 that they don't want to be looked at as the one vote to stand in the way of getting rid of a criminal if we get the goods on Gonzales. I think it would be doable. Getting the prosecutors to speak would be a good first step in getting this to happen.

Once we take care of Gonzales, that might get the steamroller ready for other impeachments, once the public sees the process work for them. Especially if getting rid of Gonzales actually can show tangible results in stopping some egregious efforts by himself and replacing him with someone more sane.

17. How much time and money was spent investigating Travelgate? Travelgate was literally
nothing, yet the press and GOP turned it into watergate revisited. Here we have what could be a serious abuse of power and getting attention is like pulling teeth.

29. Travelgate? How about "Haircutgate"??
Now granted, there wasn't any money spent on investigations, but rivers of press ink was devoted to the HORRIBLE scandal that Clinton held up air traffic on the runway while he was getting a $200 haircut. (The story was later thoroughly debunked, even though freeper-types still circulate it even today.)

Torture is legal now.

*Zap!* I'm sorry, Mr. Attorney-General, that answer was incorrect. Do you want to try to answer that question again?
