More companies filing for Bankruptcy...read here to find out who?
The following companies just filed for Bankruptcy:

Hollywood Video
Levitz
Sharper Image
Performance Team Freight
Linens n Things
Circuit City
Bed, Bath and Beyond

If you have gift cards from the above list use them ASAP, they will not
be valid for much longer.

1. These are well-established companies
not recent fly-by-night organizations. I wonder if they filed for Chapter 11 reorganization or for complete liquidation under Chapter 7.

2. not sure
but I like Bed Bath and Beyond

however, that is the first store I stopped shopping at when gas prices got higher.

I like my 1000 count sheets, but 3 sets is enough when gas is so high

Circuit City - I know they're not doing well, but I don't see anything stating they filed for bankruptcy
Bed, Bath and Beyond - Hasn't filed and has no plans to file

Here's a good article from the Times http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/03/business/03linen.html?ref=business

And here's what Snopes says: http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/bankruptcies.asp

5. Hollywood video has notiously bad management
as a result, they've had trouble for years.

Circuit City got a great round of PR when they "laid off" tons of staff about a year ago- and tried to hire then back at much lower wages! Way to boost morale and create motivate salespeople!
