Wtf why is this fuel not widely distributed? My best guess would be the oil company monopoly.

Troy Anderson was at a gas pump in Salt Lake City and couldn't have been happier, filling up at a rate of $5 per tank.

Anderson was paying the equivalent of 63.8 cents a gallon for compressed natural gas, making Utah a hot market for vehicles that run on the fuel.

It's the country's cheapest rate for compressed gas, according to the Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition, and far less than the $3.60 or so national average price for a gallon of gasoline.

2. While he's smiling all the way to the bank, wholesale conversion
at this point will be disastrous for those of us who heat our homes and cook with natural gas.

Ethanol conversion will starve us and methane/propane conversion will freeze us.

There has to be a better way than burning fossil hydrocarbons to move us from place to place.

Well, you're still driving around with a tank of compressed gas..

Gasoline is flammable, natural gas looks like it has no safety advantage from here.

It's more cost effective, for the moment. But that would seem to be it.

I don't blame the man, however. I'd carry a bundle of dynamite in my lap if I could fill up for $5.00.

Do it nationally and the price will increase, as someone already pointed out, creating a burden in the winter when people need heat.

The safety issues will become manifest if it were done on a national scale also.

4. Then, once people latch on to this fuel...
...new companies rise up and prices get to where they are now. Moving from Big Oil, to Big Natual Gas.
