Manda Bala -- Is this the reality that the neo-cons wish on us?
If you want to know what the coming election is about, watch Manda Bala.

Manda Bala shows the lives of residents of Sao Paulo -- a city in which the rich are very rich, the poor are very poor and some of the poor "earn their living" by kidnapping the rich and cutting off parts of their bodies to extort ransom money from the relatives of the kidnapping victims.

Manda Bala shows the kind of society you get when you allow political corruption to go unpunished and a callous totally self-centered form of capitalism with no moral checks and balances to become the norm. Manda Bala depicts what our society could become if we don't get real change in the coming election.

Check out Manda Bala, but warning -- the film is violent. It is not about the Brazil of sambas and beaches.

1. America used to be like that......before the New Deal and FDR.
In those days, the government hardly did anything to address the incredible gap between the rich and the poor. Laissez-faire economic policy was the rule of the day. They have tried repeatedly to destroy the New Deal, and they have succeeded in destroying some programs and regulations of the New Deal. The biggest program to fall victim to the conservative attacks was AFDC, Aid to Families with Dependent Children. The welfare "reform" of the 1990s put an end to AFDC in favor of TANF.
