What The Hell Is With Snopes.Com? (or however you spell it)
Edited on Sun May-11-08 03:49 AM by orleans
i went on there after doing a google search about twelve hours ago. then i couldn't close the window for it. it wouldn't go away. so i've had it open all day. and night.

trying to close snoops all day & night. wouldn't close.

finally, just now, i tried again. snopes closed and MILITARY.COM popped up.

what the fuck is with them? this is not the only time my computer freezes up, and keeps the site up. but it's the first time they ditched me over to the military!

3. that sounds really strange
I was on Snopes just a couple of hours ago. They are pretty relentless with the pop-up ads, but otherwise I didn't have any problems. Have you checked for viruses and trojan horses lately?

4. I advise:
AVG 8.0 Free http://free.grisoft.com/
Spybot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware http://www.malwarebytes.org/

--all free; the last one got stuff off my computer NOTHING else could find.

Just MHO.

6. Thank you
I've had one step malware on my computer for a couple months now and nothing I tried would remove it. I downloaded malwarebytes and it found it and removed it no problems. I knew it was there but I had given up on removing it because when I would it would only come right back to reinfect, now it looks like it is gone forever.

5. I rarely have problems with them
I use firefox and their blocker programs. Nothing worse than getting hijacked to a 'come die in the sand' website!

hope you get it fixed.

9. sounds like some kind of bug or virus--try looking it up on Snopes.com
ouch, just kidding--

that sounds scary--like others, I suggest getting some decent spykiller spyware bot software and using it.

I've got Ole Reliable Norton, came with my new HP laptop. Before I took it home the guys in tech gave the system a complete spyware shakedown and removed all the registry content. It cost an extra $40 bucks, but it was worth it!
