Mont. gov. speaks at commencement for class of one
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080518/ap_on_fe_st/odd_class_of_one

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - Jeff Greenwood is in a class by himself.

He was the only student to graduate from Opheim High School this year, but the small event Friday drew a big name. Gov. Brian Schweitzer gave the commencement address.

Greenwood, who plans to attend Dickinson State University in North Dakota, said the high school is the "hub of activity" for rural Opheim, a town about 10 miles south of the Canadian border.

"The student-to-teacher ratio is pretty good," said Greenwood, who is the student body president and, of course, the senior class president.

3. This story kicks my butt to heaven and back.
Under 'Class Act' in the dictionary you'll find a photograph of Brian Schweitzer.

I love it.

4. Schweitzer is a class act
and damned smart, too.

This story will generate as much good will for him as appearing at Montana's biggest high school would.

6. Strongly agree. Hi, LWolf. He purchased a great deal of good will for
himself and for his chances as a future player in the party.

Less than 30 minutes ago I sent this story out to every damn Democrat I have on our group list.

I had totally missed the story and hadn't read it until Starbucks Anarchist put it up on DU.

9. I was hoping, about 18 months or so ago,
that he would run for president.

He's definitely someone to keep an eye on.

8. Good for Jeff and Brian
One of the reasons I love Montana. In Montana, Jeff Greenwood is just as important as the valedictorian of Billing's largest High School. It's no wonder he's loved in his home state.

10. Dave Letterman says that his show gets a lot of requests from senior classes
who want to attend a taping to celebrate their graduation. They were always turned down because the classes were too big. But once he did make an exception--a senior class that consisted of only NINE students!

11. Johnny Carson interviewed small classes - ususally from his home state of NE.
I watched a few of those. I graduated in a class of 96 - which was considered large for the town. I always watched those interviews because I was amazed that there were classes smaller than mine! :hi:
