PELOSI TRYING TO BLOCK ROVE CONTEMPT CHARGE
PELOSI TRYING TO BLOCK ROVE CONTEMPT CHARGE
From Pam Miles:

I have firm confirmation that Nancy Pelosi is urging the Judiciary committee NOT to go forward with contempt against Rove. Congressman John Conyers and the Judiciary staff are battling for it but this has become an infight among dems. Time to burn up the phone lines.

4. Why? Why is Pelosi Kowtowing to the republicans?
Why is she acting like a republican? Doesn't she remember how they smeared her before the 2006 elections? They called her the most dangerous woman in America and here she is fighting to protect these same thieves and criminals. What is wrong with her? What little tidbit did the bushes dig up on her while spying on Americans?

5. The "blackmail" meme is akin to the "coincidence," and "incompetence" memes
Logically it simply doesn't follow, and is far more implausible {given the consistencies} than the obvious conclusion: collusion i.e. protecting positions of power and hollowed institutions. For the US govt, such considerations always come before serving the common good, and We The People.

8. Let's say a friend/relative of yours is charged with involvement in a crime w/others
It's human nature to seek to trivialize your friend/relative's involvement by any degree you can, even if they're guilty. In my estimation, this is the psychologic impetus fueling the 'coincidence/blackmail' belief.

In order to stop the People from moving ahead on such a thing
by referendum, Congress is required to vote to establish that
no crime was committed.

something is definitely going on, Conyers must be called out on this, Rove is a criminal.

Illegal wiretapping ring a bell, this has been going since before 9/11 and could it be possible that cheney and his goons has the Democratic Party wiretapped.

25. I'm unsure. A Google check turned this up re Don Siegelman
"Siegelman’s release is a testament to the power of alternative media. Without the work of blogger/journalists like Scott Horton of Harper’s, Glynn Wilson of Locust Fork News, and Larisa Alexandrovna of at-Largely/Raw Story/Huffington Post/Hustler, Siegelman would have little hope of being released any time soon. Without the work of Pam Miles and her e-mail listees, Siegelman would have remained in prison for the foreseeable future. It’s impossible to overstate the impact of CBS and its 60 Minutes story on the Siegelman case. But that “old media” story would not have happened without the work of folks working in the “new media.”"

She has appeared on TV to speak for Alabama Dems. Has been a candidate for state office there. She attended the 2004 Convention, presumedly a delegate. She's even been snubbed by the Obama campaign. Her website includes a public email address.

Why the suspicion? Is this somehow "out of (bad) character" for Madame Squeaker?

21. There are only two possible explanations. Either there is something that will incriminate them
or they believe that bringing up contempt charges will somehow hurt the Democrats in November

Either way, what this points out is that we need NEW leadership

For the last eight years the leadership in Congress has done everything to avoid confrontation with the administration

37. No, there are three possible explanations
1. There's something that will incriminate the Congressional Democrats

2. They believe bringing up contempt charges will somehow hurt the Democrats

or

3. They are afraid of what King George the 43rd will do if he's cornered. They remember that when the anthrax attacks happened, the only people who got hit had crossed Bush--Daschle, Leahy and the National Enquirer.

I'm going with number three. Fear of dying WILL change your attitude toward things like unprecedented levels of criminality.

59. Except in this case, it is
They're seeking to charge Rove with contempt for disobeying a summons to testify before Congress. Whatever the case may be as to why he's not testifying, the facts of the case are not in dispute here: Congress sent Rove a summons to testify before the Judiciary Committee, Rove refused to do so, Rove is therefore in contempt of Congress.

Now understand: Bush and all his minions might be as pure as the newfallen snow. (That's a severe stretch, but I've been accused of worse.) Rove, the guy whose fingers are in the most dikes here, would be in a perfect position to clear the whole administration by merely answering the summons and proving his group's collective innocence.

He's NOT answering the summons because he knows how crooked they all are. If he does go in there, one of three things is going to happen: he is going to take complete credit for all the malfeasance in this administration (which will cause him to go to jail), he is going to lie his ass off in an attempt to save their collective skins (which will cause him to go to jail) or he's going to tell the truth about how many crimes they committed (which will cause not only Rove, but everyone he knows, to go to jail). Jail isn't to his liking. The only way he can NOT go to jail is to not answer the summons.

and refuse to answer on the grounds that he would incriminate himself. Congressional investigators find this useful because it indicates that a crime may have been committed.

Then, they can enter into an immunity deal (bad idea) in order to get to the truth or turn the matter over to Justice (pointless until there is a Democratic administration).

75. I know that they're seeking to charge Rove. But the story of Pelosi's obstruction
is "confirmed" only by an anonymous source. So maybe its true, and maybe its not.

84. Don't act stupid.
You know as well as I do the vitriol directed against Pelosi didn't start with this Rove matter, and it's not the cause of it.

That said, there's no reason to even believe the OP. It's just uncorroborated gossip from a largely unknown blogger.

The hate for Pelosi expressed here is because of her stand on impeachment.

Oh, and personal attacks are against the rules.

35. If Conyers and Pelosi role were reversed, what do you think would happen?
Pelosi would assert her independence and denounce Conyers as an angry
black man trying to push her around, and Americans would tut-tut.

46. Smart move perhaps?? What is Rove's big crime?
Go after Rove's big crimes, and don't make him the centerpiece of the Siegelman case if he is a peripheral player in the actions of that corruption!

If they make Rove the center of Siegelman's case, they are just playing into his manipulations. This is what Rove wants them to do!!!

53. What is WRONG with her?
She must have drunk the same Kool-aid as Lieberman. Something is seriously amiss here. Do you think blackmail or bribery? What is she, a DLC Democrat or what? I hate it when people supposedly on 'our side' act like traitors. We have enough crime-ridden Republikans without her behaving like one. Nancy, Nancy, please come back.

Congress before we can "do anything." Disgusting person asking for more donations.

Your second number has "We're Sorry this number is no longer in service."

What the hell are you doing posting these two numbers...that aren't real but just a shill service for DLC!
