World Leaders Discuss Global Food Crisis Over 18-Course Meal
Source: Mail Online

Just two days ago, Gordon Brown was urging us all to stop wasting food and combat rising prices and a global shortage of provisions.

But yesterday the Prime Minister and other world leaders sat down to an 18-course gastronomic extravaganza at a G8 summit in Japan, which is focusing on the food crisis.

The dinner, and a six-course lunch, at the summit of leading industrialised nations on the island of Hokkaido, included delicacies such as caviar, milkfed lamb, sea urchin and tuna, with champagne and wines flown in from Europe and the U.S.

But the extravagance of the menus drew disapproval from critics who thought it hypocritical to produce such a lavish meal when world food supplies are under threat.

8. And, naturally...
Not one person would think enough to stop and say, "Hey, maybe this isn't such a bright idea..."

Sigh.

10. You'd think......
....for at least ONE MEAL at this conference - they could've served a cold ball of rice, complete with the cooked weevils and grubs that would normally live therein - and let them wash it all down with some fetid water. Better yet, feed them thru the whole conference in this manner so as to impart a teeny weeny bit of reality into their considerations!

:puke:

11. Argh, they do this all the time
It's like the Climate Change summits that occur in some far-off vacation land where everyone take their Gulfstream to. Or the giant galas that everyone arrives in separate limos.

Why don't they understand the concept of hypocrisy?

12. Yup.
I remember a friend in production telling me about the "We Are the World" video shoot.
The celebrities were complaining about the spread in craft service.
You know who told them to get over themselves? Bruce Springsteen. (Love him)

But yes, don't they understand the hypocrisy???
