Question: When you call Congressional offices, do the staffers ask your name and telephone #
or address?

I have been calling about FISA and lately all they do is say, "We'll be sure to pass that along."

No interest in who you are.

1. They don't need to anymore.
The NSA has the whole thing on tape and computer backup.

2. Some of them do -
and I actually got into it with one Senator's office - they were almost demanding to know where I lived (I admit I lied and said I lived in that State).

10. Since we have lived in many different states,
when I call the Senators or Reps from those states, I give my former address. (I also do it when e-mailing them) Works for me!!

3. Both of mine asked for my name and address, this morning.
They were very patient and seemed interested. I will receive a letter from each, but it will be a couple months down the road. That's usually how it happens, but they at least thank me for my interest and involvement in our process and answer my questions. Since they are not form letters/canned responses, I can forgive them for not answering sooner.

5. zip code, usually. they tally yes and no, and just add the number of callers.
that is standard practice.

8. The last several times I have called they do not ask.
When I called my congressman about the FISA bill several weeks ago, I asked after getting the runaround on his position.
(No one that was in the office in DC could tell me how he was going to vote hours before the vote took place!)

I was told that they do not ask because most constituents do not want congress to spend money on responses. WTF
of all thing they spend money on, we are supposed to be worried about this??? How expensive is it to send an email?

Sadly I think they just do not care anymore what we think. They legislate without regard for our opinions.
I did say that if he voted for the legislation, I would not vote for him in Nov and I meant it. He is bluedog
DINO anyway.
