Blowouts and landslides don't generate ratings, so they babble to create the appearance of a close race. Then on election night when they are proven wrong, they just pretend like they knew it all along.

Without all this media attention, without FAUX News fawning all over them, this whole PUMA nonsense would have evaporated rather quickly. Instead, the media seems enthralled by this whole "over my dead body" attitude among some "Hillary supporters". I question just how sincere that support really was, since many of these seemed all to eager and ready to jump ship for McCain, even as Hillary herself was urging her supporters to back Obama.
