Poll question: A UFO poll...seriously.
Larry King's show yesterday made me think of this. Please select the best description of your experiences / thoughts below.

Despite the urge to be silly, I'm serious about this. I'm picking the 3rd option because two people I know corroborated a story, but then "forgot" about and totally denied telling it months later.

I know it sounds wacky but it's the truth.

1. alien takeover could be one explanation
for bushco - given their complete dedication to bankrupting and doing other severe damage to this country. ;-)

I couldn't help myself. Sorry.

2. It's weird...

I think maybe alien brainwashing.

I don't understand it. Their story was detailed and descriptive, we talked about it at length and now they don't remember it. We're talking close relatives, not just a friend who would do it to joke around.

3. I've had plenty of UFO sightings but never ascribed them to aliens.
I imagine most people have seen things in the sky and wondered what it was.

4. In an old Calvin & Hobbs,
Calvin & Hobbs are walking through a forest & Calvin states:

"I read that countless species are being driven to extinction by man's destruction of the forests. I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it hasn't tried to contact us."

5. my neighbor across the street, a navy pilot,
used to land big, heavy, kerosene-filled, pieces of metal, at high speeds, on tiny itty bitty floating, man-made islands.

One of the most serious, honest people I ever knew. NO humor, NO sarcasm, NO bullshit. He had no Tony Snow gene in his body.

He told me about some objects that would tail him, swoop around him, invisible to radar, but clearly there. He was strongly debriefed on them more than once, as were his copilot and the other jets' crews.

They exist. We simply don't know who or what they are.

6. Tailing and swooping...

Yep, my relatives were in a car when they saw a light swoop in from behind them and then hover for a while.

Now they don't remember it.

9. I caught a part of Larry King's show last night, & Crawford, TX came up.
It was when they were talking about the radars picking up something and they were examining a map of the radar hits. The guy said that they were around whatever town they were spotted, headed in the direction to Crawford.

12. The famous Rex Heflin photos were in our house for one night.
My Dad worked at the Orange County Road Department and knew Rex well. One night when I was 5, my Dad brought home three black-and-white pictures taken by Rex. They showed what looked like a hubcap in the air, in a remote area of southern Orange County, California. (In 1965 most of southern Orange County was still undeveloped and agricutural). He took the photos back to work the next day and I never saw them again. I never met Rex myself. 25 years later I was looking at a TIme-Life book "Mysteries of the Unexplained" and turned the page, and there were those photos! I asked my Dad about it and he told me a little more. Rex had sent them to Life magazine in 1965, and they returned them to him saying they liked the photos, but the subject was too controversial at the time and they decided not to do a story on it. But they did make copies of the photos for their records. Not long after, some government agency contacted Rex and asked him for the photos. He sent them to them, but they never sent them back. Fortunately Life had made copies of them. My Dad died in 1994 and I recently found out Rex died in 2005 - but also that before Red died, he received his original photos back in the mail. Someone anonymously mailed them back to him, nearly 40 years after he took them.

15. i saw one ~400 yards away about 300' high, it was a seamless mirrored sphere 30' diameter, it moved
slowly against as good breeze. i could see the colors of the land reflected on its underside as it moved across a small valley to a steep Mesa ridge, maybe 5 mph. colors reflected from below rolling underneath i, green horse pasture, white wooden fence, black paved lane, dark green pinion pine trees lining the lane, 50 yards blue green sage, beige sand with red sandstone layers on the cliff slope, dark green pinion forest on top.. i then waved at it. it immediately turned gold, bronze, brown to black..in like 2 seconds and winked out...gone

i later walked around the cliff and looked around to see what was up there a different color.. nothing but green pinion pine forest. this was about 1 mile from Mesa Verde National Park where i worked in 1998.

Anytime you see something in the air that you can't identify then, by definition, you have seen an Unidentified Flying Object.

Also, they now have a category called "USO" (Unidentified Submerged Objects). And their pictures are even more blurry.

27. And what have ufos done for us?
Well more to the point, logic seems to fall apart regarding these sighted objects, because you have to go one step further and if you allow for the idea that perhaps there are intelligent beings visiting us, then you have to wonder their motivation.

If these are beings from another planet/dimension - who knows, just somewhere other then here, why haven't they formally introduced themselves rather then chasing planes or just popping in and popping out? The fact that they haven't brings up some questions.

1) They could be helping the human race - if they are more advanced. As far as I know they are not. All conspiracy theories aside regarding Area 51, etc, it is obvious they have not. right?
2) They could be eliminating the human race and taking the planet for themselves - again obvious this is not happening. Unless they are the ones responsible for lizard brained humans.. a.k.a., Republican mindset.
3) Non interfering observations? Well fuck them then. Or perhaps they already know we are going to do ourselves in, and are just waiting for the happy days when they really CAN take over the planet.

If they exist, then because they have not formally introduced themselves or offered to assist the human race, then it is far more likely that they have malevolent or other intentions. Perhaps looking at us as very primitive animal life. Perhaps we are just a Jurassic park for them to come visit on vacation? And maybe some antisocial aliens zip around chasing the inhabitants because they had one too many auric boosters. And this could be one perhaps of many such planets that they visit.

It would be great to find out if they exist due to how that would change religion and politics in the world and advance human understanding. To know that we are not alone in the universe? As the commercial says - "priceless!"

But other then that, I ask myself what have aliens done for me lately? Well nothing really.

But I don't believe for a second it was extraterrestrial. It just looked like a flying rectangle flying high up overhead. It was night though, so I'm sure my eyes were playing tricks on me. Probably was just a plane, or maybe even a satellite reflecting sunlight down or something.
