Ooops.

Make that duct tape.

Getting scared here. Homeland Security says we need lots of duct tape to defend our freedoms.

I'm ready.

p.s.
Where do I find the "use by" date on duct tape?

18. Which the MSM would either ignore or ridicule. I say a mass takeover of the airwaves.
A thousand person sit in on CNN/FOX/MSNBC and so forth with regular folks in the news seat. Or journalists elected from amongst the people involved in the takeover.

22. I'm not sure I get what you're saying. If King's I had a dream speech wasn't televised
it would mean nothing to anyone except the 6 million people who marched. If Fox News said 750,000 people showed up, ridiculed the speech, and if it spent two weeks parsing non-stop whether or not it was 'racist' and 'offensive' of MLK to say that white Americans were the "sons of slave owners" the civil rights movement would have been even more of an uphill battle.

We have to HAVE TO accept that we are dealing with a new media paradigm. The media methods of a half a century ago will no longer work. We need national, local gatherings connected by the internet--the one media format we still control. No one can afford to travel to DC and San Fran. Moreover, we need to back up "demonstrating with action. All we have done for the past 30 years is demonstrate our own disenfranchisement. No one cares anymore if 'the people' are unhappy. The system is tweaked so that it doesn't matter. We have to stop grimacing and start doing showing them who's boss. And the only way to do that is a massive general strike. And the only way to do that is interlinked local sites of resistance.

Demonstrating still works for social issues like racial equality, LGBT equality, and women's rights because the politicians still care what voters think on those issues because the corporations couldn't care less. But when it comes to economic and military protest a thousand MLKs all speaking simultaneously will not make them blink an eye because money speaks louder.

16. A veto-proof majority in the Senate.
I say this because I don't consider McCain much of a threat. Flame me if you want, but Drudge just had McCain and Obama "even," which I've seen in other media sources. What that tells me is that Obama is up by at least five and that margin will grow after the debates.

McCain wanted what, ten town hall debates? I say he stops after two or three.

21. I prefer 70, of course, but
I believe 60 does it. The thing is that we can't have any DINOs, so we'd need 63+ just in case. Otherwise, there will be at least one asshole threatening to hold out and blackmailing the party for more power and money.

The Gang of 14 thing may have worked for us, but we don't need that shit pulled on us when it's time to pass something important.

17. Upholding the Constitution and the Rule of Law,
Supporting those who stand for the Constitution, defeating those who don't. Regardless of party.

That's why, for a long time, I've felt DU should be renamed dU...

i.e. change from Democratic (Party) Underground, to democratic (principles) Underground.

election reform.

media reform.

education reform.

without those, we won't accomplish much of anything else, at least not for long.

24. we're liberals we can take on whatever the GOP can dish out, UNTIL...
we discover we disagree on FISA or SATIRE or some other detail, forget all that we have in common, and get into pissing matches over petty crap and before you know it we've become a powerless mass of self-righteous "individuals" shouting at one another and a sorry sight that makes others just shake their heads in disbelief.

And then the Republicans just walk in and take the election away.

It's true.

Don't let it happen, people.

Not this time.

27. Discussion
Seeing as how it's a discussion board.

I am not really sure how we can find Rove, unless there is some secret DU real life spy agency somewhere - that would explain the pro-FISA thing, hmm. We can talk about it and speculate, sure, but I really don't see DU posters finding him and going to where he is and making a citizen's arrest.

Haven't seen the cover and don't know anything about it, but if people want to talk about it that's what a discussion forum is for.

I don't see a problem with talking about the Iran propaganda or the mortgage thing.

We can talk about all that stuff - if people want to talk about it they'll make threads about it and if other people want to dicuss it they'll reply to those threads. Not sure where "priority" comes into it.
