I think it's just a way for them to support the GOP and keep their profit margin high. If they really wanted to drill wouldn't they have pushed for it when they controlled the house and senate?

Drilling will cut into the oil companies huge profits. Why would they want that? No, this is just a made up issue to make people support the GOP and to make the Democrats look weak on energy policy.

I wish the Democrats would just call their bluff. I think they sort of have so maybe that will temper the argument a bit.
