Pat Leahy's office points out that Glenn BecKKK is an Idiot
:dunce:

from ThinkProgress:

Leahy’s office hits back against Beck’s Batman analogy.»

As ThinkProgress reported, CNN’s Glenn Beck yesterday said that President Bush’s policies were vindicated by the “conservative values on the war on terror” in “The Dark Knight.” He also said that Bush’s willingness to “die as the worst president ever because of the war on terror” is “exactly the message that Batman carries.” ThinkProgress contacted the office of Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) — who appeared in the movie — and received this response from spokesman David Carle:

Sorry Glenn but that’s not just a stretch, it’s a hoot. But I do grant the parallels between Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor and the Vice President.

Last month, author Andrew Klavan also wrote in the Wall Street Journal that the new Batman film is a “paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush in this time of terror and war.”

3. Batman has been used as a conservative hero
see for example the Dark Knight Returns - great comic series, but the message is that most people are evil and you need a strong man type to take charge and fix things from outside the law.

Batman and most vigilante heroes work against the system, they share the message that the system doesn't work. Governments are inefficient and ineffective.

4. The big difference
Batman protected the weak. He did not shake them down for gas money for the batmobile. He did not use his darkside activities to enrich himself. Most importantly as Bruce Wayne he ran his company with a high degree of ethics.

Imagine Bush as Bruce Wayne. He would allow the Joker to get away and then sell security devices to the people. His company would make arms and buy political influence. He would appear in the bedrooms of his competition with veiled threats of death. He would infiltrate their labs and steal their secrets.

Batman had had a moral code, What does Bush have?

5. Leahy should know - he was in TDK
At Dent's fundraiser, he's the guy who says something to the Joker about not being afraid of punks and the Joker gives him a look and says that he reminds him of his father and he hates his father and holds his knife to Leahy's face.
