A little economic good news for the weekend:
At market close Friday;

Crude Oil: 113.77

Heating Oil: 3.12

Natural Gas: 8.2448

Gasoline: 2.86

Gold: 786.00/oz(!)

Corn: 529.75

Wheat: 824.2 down 40.2

What does this all mean to you? The prices of a lot of commodities(these and others, across the board) have dropped and some, like gold, have dropped severely. Now, you are likely saying to yourself "Fuck. I ain't seeing this in the stores, gas stations or my NG and heating oil bills", and you would be correct. The cocksuckers that make the food you eat, the heating oil and gasoline you burn and the NG that getsd piped to you will do everyting they can to keep soaking you. Electric companies especially are gonna be very bad with this.

So make noise to any member of elected officialdom you can think of and get to. Make it loud and long. Make it often. It is your duty as liberal and progressive citizens to make the lives of greedy pricks as miserable as possible.

1. How's the dollar?
I'm far from a market guy, but I thought I heard it had been improving.

5. Not surprising.
That's how the gasoline suppliers work: if oil or gas are going up, then they will raise their prices as much as 4 times a day. or more. Oil was up early in the week. But when those prices are dropping, they take their sweet time and play the float on the way down. Another way to say it is they rape the consumers on the way down.

Every day brings new, under-reported stories on the amount of corruption in every sector of commodities, especially energy. We must make noise.

6. I find it interesting that there hasn't been too much from the "Buy Gold!" types for a few months...

I wonder why.

If you bought gold when the noise on this board was loudest to do so, you've had your ass handed to you.

7. Gold is a commodity.
The whole commodity market bubble has gone to shit.

I also have had my darkest suspicions about Peak Oil pretty well confirmed: While NOW is the time to start the switch to alternative energy modes(actually, 30 years ago was the time, but there was no one listening...), the recent indulgences in Peak Oil breast beating, garment-rending and Cassandra Wailing was being fed by forces, groups and individuals who had the most to gain from convincing the credulous that we were entering a period that would make The Dark Ages look like a picnic. It all made for great cover for some, and it sucked a lot of idjits into the market, in the hopes of making a quick killing.

Now, to clean the vermin out of the markets.
