Really NBC, all 2+ hours of the women's marathon.
I mean it's well worth covering, but do you really need to show all 2 plus hours to the exclusion of everything else?
Just asking.

7. Those uniforms are ridiculous, especially when you look at what the men's BV players wear.
It's an insult, actually.

35. Doesn't look like there is a mandated uniform so you'll have to determine which ones chose to wear
something close to what beach volleyball wears and focus your disgust on them individually.

"Are do you not understand time zones?" ?
OR do you not know how to spell in English?

How about some highlights from the last 12 hours? OR is that concept too much for you?

A DVR, even better. Or since you or on the Internet, http://www.NBCOLYMPICS.com has all the highlights.

10. People want to watch stuff as live as possible and the marathon is a BIG event.
It's also a chance to show some non-Olympic areas of Bejing.

12. I totally agree.
Is there anything more boring than watching a marathon?

"Yes folks, they're still running....and now we have some more running...and after the commercial more running, followed by running, running, and more running. Stay tuned for running!"

15. wasnt the race in 2004 very dramatic?
seems to me there was alot of drama in the last race, that might be why they are keeping their eye on them the entire time...
last time there were people fainting and people having to sit down ... tears of pain, sorrow , and joy were abundant...
i havent been watching this year to see if thats been the case this time around

23. If you want titillation, the sprinters have beautiful, muscular bodies.
I'm not just talking about the women Of course watching their faces in slow motion is a real buzz kill.

And I totally fell in love with Turkish 48-kg weightlifter Sibel Ozkan. She was adorable. Oh, and the Tunisian guy who just won the 1500m. Him too.

The match sprints are a favorite, so is the Keirin.

There's poor sports too. Watch at the end of the race. They show it again later.

24. any human being that can run a marathon is not a "wrinkled stick"...
they may be "pained-looking" just because what they attempt is unbelievably difficult. and when you run at world record times, "off the fucking charts that you could never imagine" difficult.

if you want to disrespect these women for their apparel then we can merely disagree, but don't ever disrespect them for what they are accomplishing. it is beyond phenomenal.

how about you run a marathon in their shoes, and achieve their times. then get back to me about their "physical appearance"...

26. I'm not attacking them for their appearance, but rather the concept
that anyone would find a marathon runner in the middle of a marathon to be remotely physically attractive, to say nothing of "titillating." If you don't think their physical appearances should be brought up, take it up with the people who brought up their physical appearances, not me.

20. i know!
the talaban feel the same way too.

even though each and every athlete in that race was free to choose exactly what they would wear to race in, what would be best for their performance, what would enhance their effort to run that 26 miles, 385 feet in the heat and humidity of china...

i too think that we here on du should "cluck, cluck, cluck" about their decisions.

so therefore i add my hearty and heartfelt "cluck!"

22. It was dramatic. The winner is known for breaking away, going solo.
She has also had some terrible bonks that robbed her of victory. She is also the oldest marathon winner at 38.

34. Then you're really not going to like the 8 hour trampoline marathon they're going to run.
I looked at their website and they have trampoline listed as a sport. T-R-A-M-P-O-L-I-N-E!!

(waiting for someone to say 'how dare you, trampoline takes so much skill, it's a legitimate sport, blah, blah.)
