How would Republicans benefit from a McCain win?
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 07:48 PM by zanne
Maybe it's a fool's quest, but I'm trying to break it down and understand why the average Republican wants to vote for him. I'm trying to come up with some good reasons. So far, all I have is:

1)Religion in schools
2)No raise in taxes

That is truly all I can come up with. What will benefit them if they vote him in? When a Republican walks into a voting booth on November 4, what specifically will he/she be voting for?

I'm not talking about the ruling class; I'm talking about the everyday person, blue or white collar worker.

Can anybody help me understand this better?

1. The few rich ones would benefit greatly. They vast majority remaining of course wouldn't...
But it's always been that way with people voting republican.

9. I think the wealthy are worried about taxes - and others want to belong to that club...
Some are flat-out racists, some are closet racists, some are one-issue voters (abortion, gay marriage, etc.), some just vote the way they always have, some are afraid of terrorists and a new cold war. Sigh. How depressing!

"We're Not Sorry 2008" with a photo of themselves with their favorite gun.

http://www.notsorrynoteverybody.com/gallery.asp

on edit - NB: the notsorrynoteverybody site is a site put up by the people who did the excellent "Sorry Everybody" site in 2004. they're comparing the photos posted to www.sorryeverybody.com , to those posted on the wingnut site www.werenotsorry.com that popped up shortly after the Sorry Everybody site launched.

Sorry Everybody is still in business. however, We're Not Sorry seems to have gone away due to lack of interest, payment, or both on the part of the nutjobs who had it. note "for sale" link :-)

23. Hahaha!!!
So some lame ass grabs a pic of Sonny Barger off the net and posts it up there, probably afraid to post his own puny, weak "mom's basement tan" ass there. I somehow doubt Sonny himself took the time for such a trivial pursuit. :eyes:

25. honestly if you have to act that tough, you're not really tough
I've never known anyone who could actually handle their own business who felt the need to tell everybody how tough they were in the first place. I like how he is using the back of his hands to push out his biceps, lol. I had a guy once try to talk about how liberals were wimps in front of me, and I called him on it and he shut up pretty fast. There is a difference between talking and backing it up. Now I don't know about this guy, he might have been in the military or whatever, but still, if you have to take a picture and act like that, I can pretty much guarantee you he's not too tough.

I doubt he gives a shit about anybody's politics one way or the other, certainly not enough to go to all the trouble to label and post that shot on that site. I wonder if the freak that posted it had any idea who it was in the picture or just grabbed it because he thought it looked tough.

7. Repugs generally do not vote based on issues.
They vote based on symbols (flag/church) and personality. That's why we are where we are today.

They don't know or even worry about what they'll gain. Regardless of the facts, they are convinced any Democrat will raise taxes.

14. The short answer is that they won't.
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 08:40 PM by HughBeaumont
But they're so convinced and stubborn in belief that every Democrat is a "sodomaniacal, terrorist-matador, tax-lovin', latte-sippin, pansified, Commie deviant, pervert pedophile LIBTARD!" that they'll never ever ever TRY something new no matter HOW bad it gets for the world or them. It's all about not wanting to admit they were wrong. EVER.

There was an e-mail war earlier with some guy from my wife's friend's work, and he asserted that Obama is an "abortionist", "Has Marxist leanings", "is unqualified for office" (pretty ironic coming from a Bewsh supporter). Well, after shooting this brain surgeon's talking points down one by one by one, what does he respond with?

* 1/4 flaming
* 3/4 non-sequiturs, MORE talking points, logical fallacies, facts he made up, opinions posing as fact (learnt that from his FAUX "News" I bet) . . . I mean, it was a wholesale descent into idiot salad. Witness his awesome responses in this sample exchange, where I list facts and . . . well his responses are in italics. I . . . DAMN. Responses are rated in "What the Fuckedness", 1 being uninformed and 5 being two Twinkies Down, batshit insane.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yeah, the phrases “keepin’ us safe” and “because Bush is in office, there’ve been no terrorist attacks since 9/11” are total fallacies of cause and effect. They’re empty catchphrases, much like overall Republican policy.

I don’t understand, so we have been attacked??? What is the cause and what is the effect, then? :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Also, wage growth for the middle class is twice as high when a Democrat is president compared to a Republican:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/06/13/ST2008061302816.html <http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/06/13/ST2008061302816.html>

Also, it's been proven time and time again that under Republican administrations as compared to Democratic ones:

* stock market returns are worse. (market reached its highest levels in history under Bush, despite 9/11) :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

* personal spending goes down while wages in real dollars remain stagnant. (because you don’t have enough for discretionary spending after higher taxes) :wtf:

* the national debt rises substantially. (again, where is your cause/effect for this? So a Republican president means a higher national debt, right? It also means a stronger economy and historically low unemployment which, I see, you fail to mention) :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: Man, that one's just off-the-charts fucked. Live in a cave much?

* more country-damaging scandal and illegal activity occurs. (this is so juvenile, moronic and silly I will just leave it alone. You are a bitter, bitter person). :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

* more tax-wasting invasions occur so the Pentagon and their cronies can get rich off of Joe Sixpack at the price of his soldier son. (oh, more of the “blood for oil” rhetoric. You actually think we are at war so certain people can get rich? You are beyond help. Typical bed-wetting liberal trash). :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

* more religious right empowerment happens. (where is your proof of this?) :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

* more fear-induced governing occurs (terror alerts, anyone?). (yeah, had nothing to do with those two airplanes RUNNING INTO THE FUCKING TOWERS, RIGHT?) :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

* income disparity grows. (Called capitalism, if you don’t like your lot in life work a little harder).:wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: God DAMN it, working your fingers to the bone usually gives you nothing but bony fingers, DOLT. Just ask 94% of the blue collar workers in this country, who worked the hardest and got screwed the most, how well that silly belief is working for them.

But that’s being tangential, isn’t it? No, that is being a typical irrational conspiracy-believing, bedwetting liberal. Facts are now conspiracies. War is peace. Ignorance is strength. We've always been at war with Oceania.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This type of sub-idiot is what we're dealing with: someone who revels in their ignorance. There is nothing worse than a stupid person pretending to be smart. Jesus Christ.

in '00 & '04. I remember a local couple being interviewed in the paper because they were opposites politically. She was a hard-core Dem and he was a life long repug. When asked why he was voting for * the husband sputtered and stammered but still couldn't describe one valid reason to vote for *. Voting repug is just something he's done without thinking.

18. Because they know anyone chosen by the GOP ...
... will continue the policies which have further disenfranchised those too uninformed to know better while simultaneously killing more of their children in a war for defense contracts--but nowhere near where their jobs have been sent--while reducing the safety net of social services which might have helped them due to the mortgage crisis, shrinking dollar, high gas prices, increasing unemployment and increasing homelessness and hunger.

Not to mention their eternal faith in the imaginary dream that they too will be rich enough to screw over their neighbors if only they can show sufficient loyalty to the GOP party, like the bottom layer in a pyramid scheme.

So, they pay and pay and pay in the hopes of creating a layer beneath themselves without realizing the consequences of their votes, their ignorance and their hate.

19. Here's How
Rich Republicans would get the Bush tax cuts made permanent which would eventually destroy the federal government's ability to fund social programs thereby finally killing all of FDR New Deal programs.

Neocons would get their war in Iran.

Defense contractors would get more no bid contracts for their war in Iran.

Businesses would get to outsource more and in-source cheap labor from overseas.

Wall Street would get bailed out of the housing mess entirely.

Republican base would get absolutely nothing.
