Why do it to stop offshore drilling (which I'm not thrilled about but which is mainly an upper-middle class white suburban pale green enviro issue, and which has probably cost us a ton of votes)rather than to stop the war(which would have gained us support and which was what we were elected to do)?

If she could defy Bush on this one(which isn't THAT important), why not last summer when it was something that really mattered?

I hope it's not that the finer feelings of yuppie greens matter more than the lives of Iraqi children.

We'd certainly have a much higher approval rating if Nancy had gone to the mat on a REAL issue, rather than a big donor one.

1. Huh?
"Why do it to stop offshore drilling" -- The recess was scheduled months ago. It wasn't intended to stop offshore drilling.

Methinks you have been listening to too much repuke propaganda.

2. She is in charge of scheduling the recesses.
My point is this.

Why do this on this issue but NOT on the war?

If we'd refused to bring the war funding up for a vote(as we should have)a lot of lives would've seen saved.

(I'm not really pro-drilling, I'm pro-fighting hard on the real issues.)

3. That's a good question. I was told by her senior aid here that
we were going to wait for the Petraeus report and let Bush hang himself by his own benchmarks.

How did that work out for us?

:puke:

4. The recess was scheduled long before offshore drilling became an issue

Congress has usually has had 'district work period' during August every year for at least the last ten years.
