Cops: No evidence of Obama assassination plot
:wtf:

Three suspects are likely to only face gun charges, federal official says

"DENVER - Three men who authorities feared were plotting to assassinate Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention are facing only gun charges — a signal that officials believe they never posed a real threat.

<snip>

One of the men arrested told KCNC-TV in Denver that others involved in the case had made racist statements regarding Obama and had discussed killing Obama on the day of his nomination acceptance speech.

When asked if he felt there was a plot to kill Obama, Nathan Johnson said, "Looking back at it, I don't want to say yes, but I don't want to say no." Johnson was interviewed while being held in jail on drug charges. He said he wasn't involved in any plot.

The action started around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when police in the eastern suburb of Aurora stopped a truck that was swerving erratically. The driver, 28-year-old Tharin Gartrell, had a suspended driver's license, and the truck was rented in the name of another person, said Aurora police Detective Marcus Dudley.

In the truck, officers found two rifles, including one with a scope; a bulletproof vest; boxes of ammunition; walkie-talkies; and suspected narcotics, Dudley said..."

8. What did you expect
The US Attorney, Troy Eid, is a Repuke and a current Bush appointee, his wife was appointed the the Colorado State Supreme Court by former Republican governor Bill Owens.

She was being considered for a seat on the 10th Circuit Court, but with her husband as the US Attorney she would have to recuse herself from all of his cases, so she got the state job.

By the way Troy Eid was also a former aid to Governor Bill Owens

2. Define "evidence".
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 02:30 PM by no_hypocrisy
If they actually shot at Obama and hit their mark, would THAT be "evidence"?

:sarcasm:

In criminal law, there are lots of "presumptions", assumed facts before they're actually proved in a court of law. Such as if you aim a gun at someone, it's a presumption of murder (intent to kill) until the defense attorney can prove otherwise. But you're still arrested, booked, bonded, released, and have to stand trial for pointing a gun at someone.

4. They found guns and meth
and whatever else they intended to do, those two things will keep those three inbred halfwits locked up for some time to come.

Guns and meth are a bad combination. Those losers need to be off the street.

9. Guns and alcohol are a bad combination too.
Why do we not imprison those found with guns and alcohol?

6. And no evidence that Bill Gwatney was killed because he was a Dem...
The Little Rock Police Dept has had this lunatics' computer for over two weeks, yet REFUSE to say what was on it (like evidence that Johnson was a frequent peruser/poster to RW sites?)

The reason the RW stopped killing our leaders was because they turned them into martyrs - and they became much larger in death. Think about it...

But in the rented vehicle of Tharin Gartrell, a 28-year-old convicted felon, they found two high-powered scoped rifles, ammunition, sighting scopes, radios, a cellphone, a bulletproof vest, wigs, drugs and fake IDs.

13. What they're saying is no evidence of a bigger conspiracy outside of these idiots
Though the single sentence summary they've been pushing is kind of misleading.
