5. How sad that we got talking heads instead of Duckworth
Duckworth was left behind in silence as that drunk on himself, Matthews gaggled...Fox, well, Fox is Fox...CNN, same crap...To hear Duckworth you had to watch PBS or C-Span.

The movie about vets will not be remembered, only Spielberg, who fought wars only in Hollywood will be remembered as the maker and Tom Hanks as the moderator.

Duckworth and her husband are embedded in my mind because my generation knew war without choice. Today's Americans remember the World Trade Center from TV, I remember it form inside. But far, far better I remember Duckworth's courageous fight for country, vets and survival. Let's remember all the "stars" of this Democratic Convention and all the high points, but let us never forget that their stature is measure above all by what they do to make American heroes like Duckworth believe in them.

6. Maika'i! Two kama'aina in just one convention!
kama'aina = local Hawai'i person, opposed to malihini, outsider or foreigner

The other one, of course, is the guy who just got nominated.

Ladda "Tammy" Duckworth is a graduate of McKinley High School, which I will pass on the way home in a few minutes. Odd that both of them chose Illinois as their adopted state.

11. I had no idea she was from the Islands, too. Of all the things I read about her when she ran...
... for office, that was not included. I would have remembered if it were, because it always warms my heart to see people from Hawai'i -- such a small and out of the way place, really -- making an impact on the world.

There have been so many kama'aina from the military services who have surfaced during the Bush years, speaking out in courage: Major Tammy Duckworth, Generals Taguba and Shinseki, and resistor Lt. Ehren Watada. These are honorable warriors, people of conscience.

And Barack Obama, who did not choose the military path, but who will be a solid Commander in Chief.

Very eloquent tonight.

Very eloquent every time she speaks.

12. If Obama gets the presidency
She is one of the people they are talking about talking his seat in the Senate. There are quite a few of them wanting it, so am unsure of who would finally get it. But if the governor appoints the person, I think she may have a better chance of getting it than if there's am election, because some of those wanting it are well known state politicians. (some who don't get along so well with the governor)

13. That would put her right where she needs to be
It would give her the national exposure to allow for a future run for President.

So far, what I know about her, I'd get behind that idea in a heartbeat.

16. I actually know little about her.
Shame on me. My daughter is the one who knew about her and her chances at the Senate. I had heard about others.

I have read about her in the past, and from what I remember, I too would be in her corner.
