There are thousands of videos now of police brutality on the internet. It happens everyday, and has been happening for hundreds of years, with many people refusing to believe the stories. Now there’s proof. Most people will never see other citizens act as violently as these cops conduct themselves. And against not only those who may frighten the police into over-reaction, but also against women, children and the infirm. That is sociopathic behavior at worst, but still criminal actions at best.

To make matters worse, these are people that have been given special privileges and powers by the community, which has trusted them not to abuse that power – and they have. To borrow and bastardize a phrase from the media, they serve at the pleasure of the people.

So, would any city or town put up with this conduct from plumbers or lawyers? Then why should we put up with it from people who are supposed to be held to a higher standard? This goes not just for the actual criminal cops, but the ones who stand by the sidelines and do nothing.

2. There are times when "Help! Police!" is a cry of warning, not a plea for assistance. . .

3. This is part of the fascist shift.....
police brutality changes people's willingness to demonstrate, march or protest.....because the possible result is death or injuries, and that with no health care to cover the resulting disruption.

The US is pretty much fascism lite at the moment. Without some change and quick, the window of opportunity slams shut, and classical fascism takes over. I think that's what's happening now, with the crisis in Georgia. I also think that is why Harper is pushing for an election this fall, and I'm sincerely hoping that he does not get a majority while he is pushing. He will follow the shock doctrine, and we will be years digging out of the mess.

4. I've had enough, but there isn't a damn thing we can do about it
Brutality is accepted behavior from the police where protesters are concerned. The victim is always painted as having deserved it, regardless of whether or not that's true.

If this is the America its citizens want, I'm only too happy to leave it to them at the first opportunity. And I won't be back to help when they get a taste of it for themselves.

Sometimes the only option is tough love -- let it fail and fall in on their heads, don't intervene, let them learn the lesson on their own as they must.

5. The police work for the politicians, not the citizens..
It may seem a minor technicality, but then the Devil is in the details, eh?

6. But the politicians work for us. At least that's the way it's
suppose to work. (Yeah, I know, then Bush wouldn't be in office.)
