Katrina - Gustav - Even if we don't have to evacuate...

and please G-d, not again - we are still dealing with the repercussions from Katrina - emotionally, psychologically, physically, financially - every way. Even if Gustav doesn't hit New Orleans, but there's a mandatory evacuation, the city may never recover. From Katrina, yes, we could do it in another 5 to 10 years. But not another one.

Are the levees fixed? Are the marshlands being rebuilt? Has there been an real investment, the kind of massive commitment of federal dollars that - oh, hell- was George Bush ever elected?

What would it have cost to protect New Orleans - not from wind, necessarily, but from water devastation? $30 billion - one month in Iraq. How long would it have taken? If the effort had been made immediately after Katrina, we'd be close.

Forget the platitudes and slogans and smears and whatever else. If we can't provide for the children, if we can't protect...

I'm oddly reminded of a Paul McCartney song: Deliver Your Children. Or Bend Little Willow.

I hope Obama mentions Katrina.

DU was there for us during and after Katrina. I know if G-d forbid we have to evacuate for Gustav, DU will be there again.

Revolution - let's take back our country!

Windows IS a major piece of shit, from Win 3.11 to the current turd they are selling.

A 32 bit patch to a 16 bit fix for an 8 bit upgrade to a 4 bit operating system by a 2 bit company that cannot handle one bit of competition....

5. I can't begin to express how worried I feel for you guys down there
And edgy and that, oh no not fucking again, feeling. The waiting, watching and wondering must be driving you all batty. I'm sorry you're having to go through this again.

A friend of my families got fed with Southern California and took his sail boat to New Orleans, that was two weeks before Katrina struck. No one has heard from him since:-( Not a word cuz no one knows. One day he's here, the next day.. poof.. gone.

So be SO SO SOOO safe and you and all your friends and family, pets, neighbors... PLEASE err on the side of caution.

And yea DU always here's for ya:hug:

6. Might give you a slight chuckle...
This is the second named storm/hurricane of the year to be named after my father.

He was Edward Gustav <last name> and so far this year there has been a Edouard and a Gustav. I think he might have found it a little funny.

Keep safe.
