Why do Republicans hate people?

It seems like so many of them do. At least on the macro level, they seem to hate people.

1. I always figured the people who hate everybody really mostly hate themselves
Because they know what pitiful human beings they are in their black shriveled hearts.

3. I don't think that they necessarily hate people......
They just love themselves so much that they don't have room for others.

12. ..It's the money thing.... here's an interesting story....
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 12:50 PM by lib2DaBone
With Republicans it's all about money $$$$.(me, me,IGM-I got mine) I work part-time at a grocery store. I was loading some groceries into this ladies Mercedes Benz, and I heard her comment.... "I'm worried about the economy if Obama gets elected." I agreed, saying that a lot of Americans are worried these days, but that Dems had handed Bush a big surplus. After a few quick questions.. I found out she wasn't worried about foreclosures, joblessness, inflation or 45 million Americans without healthcare. Rather,it seems her husband works for some big oil brokerage... she was "Worried" that they'd lose their tax breaks if Dems are elected. She said then she'd have to sell her beach home and cancel her trip to the Caymans. <I slap myself in the forehead and do my best Homer Simpson..."Doohh.."> It's called "Reaganomics". It "Trickles down".. but not to the worker bees.

15. Absolutely. I once became acquainted with a woman who

married into a wealthy family. She was very concerned about "hanging onto our money" which she felt the Dems were trying to get their hands on. She had no interest in the common good or helping the less fortunate.

She would tell the most horrific stories about how her in-laws treated the "help." No vacation time. No healthcare. But she wasn't sympathetic in the least. It was all, "These people are lucky to have a job and are so ungrateful." It was chilling to hear.

9. This book will help unravel their bizarre beliefs... George Lakeoff
I heard him speak in SF and he was fantastic.

See this page

http://www.buzzflash.com/reviews/05/rev05028.html

"Moral Politics: How Liberals and Conservatives Think" is Lakoff's 471-page analysis of the archetypes that many American voters bring into the voting booth. A Berkeley progressive, Lakoff, ironically, is probably the most perceptive analyst of the underpinnings of the Republican strategy to dominate politics through "value" issues. "Moral Politics" is all the more amazing because the first edition was written in 1996, which makes Lakoff a bit of a seer, to say the least. (emphasis mine)

nothing gets a republican's adult diaper tied in a knot more than being disrespected.

11. Because they are sniveling cowards who will not face up to their own fears.
Look at George W. Bush. A perfect Republican. Behind the masks, emotional fortifications, and bluster is a fearful little bully who never grew up. His greatest fear is that someone will expose his inner shame. He is always looking around for someone to cast his own failings upon.

People full of hatred are people who have succumbed to fear. You cannot hate someone unless you feel threatened by them. The nature of that threat might be rational, but often it is not. Who could hate people living in poverty, who could hate gay people? I think many Republicans know in their hearts it is their own ideology making life miserable for certain groups of people, and they can't face that. It's easier for them to hate poor people or gay people than it is to abandon their cruel ideology.

Have to get more defined than that broad brush.

I would have said something more along the lines of... There are extremes and those that would rather preach hate from both the far rights to the far lefts.

People like me and a lot of you, fall safely in between.

17. and has anyone seen the GOP's Not Ready '08
whatever you call it?

I just wish I could understand where these people have been in the past 8 years. Are they really that proud that they can't admit how they've ruined the country?

Since when was jr. ready? What extensive experience did he have?

As much talk and publicity there has been about PUMA's recently I'd like to know how many of them have crossed over to us.

19. ..That is the most frustrating part......
Republicans REFUSE to take any responsibility or acknowledge any of the misery they have caused over the last 8 years. TO them.it's as though 'nothing' has happened. I have learned you can't talk to a Republican. They put their hands over their ears and go..."la la la la la I can't hear you." Is Da Nile a river in South America?

24. Because people are expensive. They cost money. 'Cause they want things.
They want jobs with decent wages that big business would rather not have to pay (bottom line, you know), they need health insurance, they need police and fire protection, and they keep wanting things - like government oversight and "there oughta be a law" and food safety inspections and workers' rights and consumer protections and other annoyances that cost too much. And they're not buying enough, damn them.

26. They need someone to feel superior to
They just can't function without it. They need black and white rules - ambiguity of any kind bothers them. So anyone that sees something they feel they cannot handle is a threat.

On some level they know they were wrong about Iraq, but to admit that might mean they were wrong, and if they were wrong once, they can't trust themseles again. And they have been enjoying the Muslims for providing an automatic "inferior" class they felt couldn't be questioned (they figured 911 meant there would be no "PC" regarding this group.)
