Forty-five years ago, Martin spoke to us. We were but children then,

but he included us in his dream. WE were the black and white girls and boys he spoke so prophetically of: WE DEMOCRATS. We are children no longer. It took a lot of years for us to make it to the mountaintop. Heck, we're still not quite there - there's a steep stretch just like the Hilary Step on Everest that some say is the hardest part.

Some of us might not even make it to the mountaintop in January, but most of us will. And we will have Martin, and John, and Bobby, and Abraham, and all the nameless, faceless others who struggled before us RIGHT THERE AT OUR SIDES, in spirit if not in fact.

Can you feel it? It feels like a dream, but this time it's for real.

On edit: I am stuck at work until 6, and DSL is too slow for me to watch the live feed.......I am so excited I am about to pee my pants and I am near tears.
