I thought Gustav was on her way past Kingston
but that was just the eye. The rain behind the eye is something else. It's been pelting for five hours now - no lightning and thunder though. Half of the city has no power. Guess I'm lucky.
I don't care if the power goes now - I saw Obama. My only regret is I can't hear Keith. Guess I'll wait for Countdown tomorrow.

I hope for the mainland's sake that Gustav sheds some of this rain before landfall because if it strengthens and brings all this rain, somewhere is up S creek without a paddle. The system is still moving at 6mph.

Thanks Obama - I hardly noticed how hard it was raining. :D

2. You take care down there.
Jamaica me worried talking about this.

OK, bad joke, but you probably need to smile in such a scary thing.

3. It's not scary you know
just raining non-stop. After the serious hurricanes we've faced, this is a cakewalk. I'm listening to people calling in. Some of them are really scared - some serious damage is being inflicted as I type.

Thanks.

4. Stay safe!
And can you believe it's not even a hurricane? It's still packing winds just below hurricane strength.

There are two things you have to experience for yourself to know what a storm like that is like: how loud it is and what a pain in the ass it is to keep rain driven horizontal out of your living space.

6. That's the good news
This rain with a hurricane would have been unbearable.

Still watching Barack give McWar a birthday present he won't forget was enough for me to smile through this. :D

I know several people are hurting tonight. We're very safe and also very lucky.

10. Sorry, I didn't see this thread.
David (son) is in NO and will go to Memphis. It's hard to see all the work the volunteers have done for the last 3 years go down the drain. We'll see. Glad to hear you're ok and got to see:

THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, BARAK OBAMA!!!
