CNN is reporting that New Orleans levees may not withstand a storm WEAKER than Katrina.
There is nothing on their website yet, but they've been covering this story all morning. They said that repairs to the levees are still incomplete and are 10 feet lower in some places than they wanted them to be.

If you know anyone in New Orleans, PLEASE urge them to evacuate early.

I am sick hearing this. How many billions have gone to tax cuts for the oil companies for no bid contracts, for Iraq.

2. i'm sure it was enough
to ensure that new orleans could withstand a big storm. it just wasn't in their budget - the way they play, the money goes into their pockets and fuck the rest of the world. i'm so glad the bush junta is almost out of power.

... when Yahoo News posted a story about the status of the levee system in New Orleans.
